In short: A gold dragon embroidered on the leg, a patterned gold waistband and a round badge. The most restrained treatment in the Thai range: one motif, no scrollwork. 8 sizes, XS to 4XL. €39 XS to XL, €44 XXL to 4XL.
The Asian dragon, control rather than force
The dragon embroidered in gold thread on the leg is not the monster of the European tradition. The Asian dragon is a water creature, wingless, associated with rain, rivers and protection. You do not fight it; you try to resemble it.
On fight kit the symbol carries a precise meaning. It does not stand for brute strength but for control — the idea that the highest form of power goes around an obstacle rather than through it. That reading sits closer to Muay Thai than a European dragon ever would.
What the shorts look like
Solid black across the whole garment, edged with a fine gold trim along the leg openings. A sinuous gold dragon, wingless, sits low on the right leg.
The wide elastic waistband is gold, worked with a repeating pattern and a round badge at the front. Satin finish.
One motif: what that changes at distance
This short carries a single graphic element, the dragon, set low on the right leg. At three metres you see a black short with a gold waistband; at one metre the drawing resolves. That is the opposite of a short covered in scrollwork, which reads instantly and holds nothing back for close up.
The patterned gold waistband does the long-distance work the leg does not. For a cut that reads from the seats, see the panelled Muay Thai short.

Worth knowing: one motif and a gold waistband is the most restrained combination in the Thai range. If you want the tradition without a short covered in ornament, this is where it stops.
Getting the size right
The gold waistband is elastic across its full width and takes up a change in waist measurement. Beyond that, the point that causes most ordering errors: Thai-made shorts run small and most guides tell you to size up. Not here. This is a European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes, XS to 4XL, where most of the market stops at XXL. In a groin guard, go one size up.

Frequently asked questions
What does the dragon on Muay Thai shorts mean?
Control, not brute force. The Asian dragon is a wingless water creature tied to rain and protection, unlike the European dragon, which is a monster to be killed. The idea it carries is that the highest power goes around rather than through.
What size Muay Thai shorts should I get?
Take your usual size. These are cut to European sizing, so the standard advice to order one size up — which applies to Thai-made shorts — does not apply here. Eight sizes run XS to 4XL. If you train in a groin guard, go one size up.
Is the dragon embroidered or printed?
It is worked in gold thread on the satin, not printed on top of it. Wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F and keep an iron off the motif and it holds its finish.
Can you wear Muay Thai shorts for boxing?
Yes. The short leg and high split take nothing away from footwork, and plenty of boxers train in them. The one difference is the low-blow line: boxing shorts mark it with a waistband above the navel, Thai shorts do not.
Do these come in big and tall sizes?
Yes, up to 4XL. Most of the market stops at XXL on a pair of Thai shorts.
How do you wash Muay Thai shorts?
Machine wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F, no tumble dryer, and never put an iron directly on the design. Skip the fabric softener: it coats the weave and slows how fast sweat moves through it.
