Free standing punching bag frame
Free standing punching bag frames: train at home without drilling a single wall
The essentials:5 free standing frames to hang a punching bag with no drilling at all. Loads from 60 to 150 kg depending on the model. Options available: adjustable height, folding structure, built-in pull-up bar, speed bag included and 18 colours to choose from. All in reinforced powder-coated steel, delivered complete with fixings and instructions. Free standard shipping.
The main obstacle to training at home is neither budget nor space: it is the fixing. Not everyone has a concrete ceiling, a well-placed load-bearing wall or permission to drill. A frame solves that in one move: the structure stands on its own, it moves, and it comes with you if you move house. It is the answer for renters, flats, garages and gyms that do not want to alter anything.
Still hesitating between a frame, a wall mount and a ceiling fixing? Our guide on how to hang a punching bag compares all three in detail.
🥊 Our punching bag frames
All share the same base: reinforced powder-coated steel, a self-supporting structure, no drilling. They differ in the load they take, the extra training stations and the storage options.
Folding and adjustable frame. The folding model is the entry point to the range. Bag up to 60 kg, height adjustable from 182 to 230 cm to suit the whole family, and above all a structure that folds away between sessions. 3 ballast bars supplied. The one to pick if the training room is also the living room.
Classic 150 kg frame. The classic frame takes up to 150 kg: enough to hang a filled 180 cm bag. It is the only one supplied with 4 ballast weights included, and combines suction pads, an angled rear upright and tie-down rings to strap the bottom of the bag. Stable from the first round, with nothing extra to buy.
Combined frame with speed bag. The combined frame brings two stations onto one chassis: a punching bag on one side, a speed bag supplied on the other, on a height-adjustable board. The bag for power, the speed bag for hand speed and coordination. Bag up to 60 kg, 4 ballast bars supplied.
Frame with pull-up bar. The pull-up bar frame is the only one with a 98 cm bar with curved ends, allowing wide, neutral and close grips. Bag up to 80 kg, height adjustable from 183 to 232 cm and a folding structure. A complete upper-body station in under 2 m² of floor.
150 kg frame in 18 colours. The 18-colour model is our top of the range: 150 kg of load, 230 cm tall — the tallest in the catalogue — and the most compact footprint at equal load. Its powder-coated finish comes in 18 shades, to match a club's colours or blend discreetly into a home.

🎯 How to choose your frame
Four questions settle it:
- Which bag will you hang? The priority criterion. A filled 100 to 120 cm bag runs around 30 to 60 kg; a 180 cm bag can exceed 100 kg. Never go below the real weight of your bag.
- Will you need to stow it? If the room is used for something else, a folding model changes everything day to day.
- Do you want a second station? A pull-up bar for the upper body, a speed bag for rhythm and coordination: two ways to build out the session without taking more space.
- What ceiling height do you have? Allow at least 240 cm for the 230 cm models, and check the footprint, which runs from 100 × 135 cm to 160 × 117 cm depending on the model.
⚖️ Stability: the real subject
This is the number one objection on this kind of equipment, and it is a fair one: a punching bag in motion exerts real thrust on the structure. Our frames answer it with several devices, combined according to model:
- Ballast by weight plates: pegs or vertical bars on the base take cast iron plates. By far the most effective — and on the classic model the 4 weights are supplied.
- Wide triangular base: spreads the forces and moves the support points away from the centre of thrust.
- Angled rear upright: takes the rearward thrust and prevents tipping on hard shots.
- Suction pads: they grip the floor and protect the surface, wooden floors included.
- Tie-down rings: strapping the bottom of the bag towards the base sharply reduces swing and brings the feel closer to a ceiling-hung bag.
🧱 Why powder coating
All our frames get a powder-coated finish. The principle: paint powder is sprayed electrostatically onto the steel, then cured in an oven at high temperature. The resulting coating is hard, even and far more resistant to scratching, impact and corrosion than cold-applied paint. In practice, it does not chip against the bag's straps or chain, and does not rust in a damp garage.
🔧 Assembly and upkeep
- Fit the ballast during assembly: it is not an optional accessory, it is part of the stability system.
- Set the height so the middle of the bag reaches your sternum.
- Lay a mat under the base: it protects the floor and absorbs the vibration passed to neighbours. Our mats and flooring suit perfectly.
- Re-check the fixings after the first few sessions and periodically: vibration loosens assemblies over time.
- Plan to be two people for the final lift during assembly, as the structures are tall and bulky.
❓ Frequently asked questions
Do I need to drill a wall or ceiling to install a frame?
No. All our frames are self-supporting: they stand on their own base, with no fixing to the floor or the wall. That is precisely their purpose, for renters, flats and homes with no load-bearing wall or concrete ceiling.
Which frame should I choose for my bag weight?
That is the priority criterion. Our models take from 60 to 150 kg. A filled 100 to 120 cm bag generally weighs between 30 and 60 kg: the 60 kg frames are enough. A 150 to 180 cm bag can exceed 100 kg: go for the classic frame or the 18-colour model, both rated 150 kg.
Does a frame move when you hit hard?
It moves less the more it is ballasted. All our bases take weight plates on pegs or bars provided for the purpose, and the classic model comes with 4 weights. Depending on the model you also get suction pads, an angled rear upright and rings allowing the bottom of the bag to be strapped down — that last point reduces swing very noticeably.
Is the punching bag included with the frame?
No, the bag is ordered separately from our punching bags collection. Frames are delivered complete with fixings and instructions; the combined model does include its speed bag, and the classic model its 4 ballast weights.
Frame, wall mount or ceiling fixing: which should I choose?
A wall mount takes no floor space but requires a load-bearing wall and permanent drilling. A ceiling fixing is the most discreet, but demands a concrete ceiling or a beam. A frame requires no alteration to the property, moves, and comes with you — in exchange for a footprint of 1 to 2 m².
How much space do I need?
Depending on the model, the footprint runs from 100 × 135 cm to 160 × 117 cm, for a height of 208 to 232 cm. Add the space to move around the bag, and allow at least 240 cm of ceiling height for the tallest models.
Can a frame be stowed between sessions?
Yes, on two of our models: the folding adjustable frame and the pull-up bar frame fold away to be stored along a wall, then redeploy quickly. The other three stay in place once assembled.
Is assembly complicated?
No. Every frame is delivered complete with all its fixings and a quick assembly guide, with no special tools needed. Just plan to be two people for the final lift, as the structures are tall and bulky.
Is a frame suitable for a club or a gym?
Yes. The 150 kg models in reinforced powder-coated steel are built for repeated use by several practitioners. The 18-colour model also lets you match the equipment to club colours or visually distinguish several training stations.
