Before you decide, our complete boxing ring buying guide sets out regulation dimensions, budgets and the points to check before launching a gym project.
🥊 The types of boxing ring
Fixed floor-level ring. The fixed floor ring sits on 4 posts with base plates bolted to the floor with concrete anchors. Not demountable, it is a permanent part of the gym — and the most economical ring on the market. Ideal for day-to-day training and sparring.
Free-standing demountable ring. The free-standing ring rests on a square steel frame acting as a counterweight: no floor fixing required. Two people assemble it in 5 to 10 minutes and take it down just as fast, which makes it the favourite of amateur clubs.
Folding ring. The folding ring folds and unfolds in seconds. A 5 × 5 m model occupies 25 m² open and only 2.5 m² folded against a wall: a tenfold space saving, perfect for tight or multi-purpose halls.
Sliding ring. The sliding ring moves and stows sideways without dismantling, turning the space into an open training area instantly.
Wall-mounted ring. The wall-mounted ring anchors against a load-bearing wall: it removes two posts on the wall side and frees circulation, while keeping a full fighting surface. Ideal for narrow or long halls.
Ring on a platform. The platform ring is raised on a 10, 30 or 50 cm platform. Your boxers train in conditions close to competition — a must for any gym preparing amateurs and professionals.
Competition ring. The competition ring meets the rules of international federations and organisations: a 50 cm or 1 m platform, two access staircases and premium coverings, with a heavy cotton canvas for looks and wear resistance.
Competition ring with lighting masts. The ring with lighting masts builds the light into the structure itself: each corner post extends into a mast, clamped in place, carrying 5500 K LED floodlights about 3.5 m above the ring. Eight sealed floodlights in total, angled inwards to light without dazzling. The benefit is major: it removes any suspended roof rig, which is costly and complex to install. Designed for 4K capture and streaming, available with or without the 4 masts.
Olympic ring. The Olympic ring follows the standards of the biggest competitions: dimensions, platform height and finishes at the highest level of specification.
Hybrid MMA cage and boxing ring. The hybrid cage combines a boxing ring and an MMA cage in a single structure. Two disciplines, one installation. If MMA is your main discipline, look instead at our MMA cages, with more than thirty configurations.
Multi-function ring. The multi-function ring is a modular space serving as both a ring and a cross-training or strength area. Bags and speed bags can be hung from it and pull-up bars built in.
Inflatable rings. The inflatable ring inflates and deflates in minutes with a blower, with nothing to fix or assemble. The perfect tool to promote combat sports at indoor or outdoor events. Variants: with a canopy for sun and rain cover, and hexagonal for an MMA octagon format. Remember the blower.
📐 How to choose your boxing ring
Three criteria guide the choice: use (training, competition, events), space available and budget. On dimensions, allow 4 × 4 m for beginners up to 6 × 6 or 7.8 × 7.8 m for international competition — the rope-to-rope fighting surface being smaller than the total floor footprint.
| Type of ring | Ideal use | Mobility | Height |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inflatable | Demonstrations, outdoors | Ultra-mobile | Floor level |
| Fixed floor or wall-mounted | Daily training | Fixed (bolted) | Floor level |

| Folding or sliding | Multi-purpose halls | Very mobile | Floor level |

| Multi-function | Ring and cross-training | Fixed | Floor level |
| Competition and Olympic | Shows, official bouts | Free-standing | 50 cm to 1 m |
| Hybrid MMA cage | Boxing and MMA | Fixed | Platform |

- Premium ropes: 4 sheathed ropes with high-precision tensioners for constant tension and burn protection.
- High-density cushioning: bonded foam mats covered with non-slip PVC or cotton canvas, to limit joint injury risk.
- Compliance: equipment meeting boxing organisation standards for official competition.
- 10-year warranty on the structure, under normal use.

- Your logo printed on the canvas, the corners and the ropes.

Every ring is made to order, so allow 2 to 3 weeks of manufacture and customisation from the moment your choices are approved — design, colours and ring plan — then delivery within 6 to 8 weeks. The most complex configurations may need an extra week in production; the exact lead time appears on each product page and is confirmed with your quote.
Delivery is by lorry: the site must be accessible to heavy goods vehicles. ❓ Frequently asked questions
Which boxing ring should an amateur club choose?
For an amateur club, the free-standing demountable floor ring offers the best value and two people can assemble it in 5 to 10 minutes. The fixed floor ring is even more economical if you can bolt into the floor. If you are preparing fighters for competition, a platform ring reproduces real conditions.
What are the manufacturing and delivery times?
Allow on average 2 to 3 weeks of manufacture and customisation from approval of your choices — design, colours and ring plan — then delivery within 6 to 8 weeks. The most complex configurations, such as the ring with lighting masts, may need an extra week in production. Plan ahead if you are working to a show date or a gym opening.
What ring dimensions should I choose?
Allow 4 × 4 m for beginners up to 6 × 6 or 7.8 × 7.8 m for international competition. The rope-to-rope fighting surface is smaller than the total floor footprint; leave a circulation margin around the ring. We advise on the ideal size for your hall.
What ceiling height should I allow?
This is the point most often forgotten. A floor-level ring simply needs comfortable height for raised arms. A platform adds 10 to 100 cm under the boxers' feet, which must be subtracted from your available height. The ring with lighting masts is the most demanding: its floodlights sit about 3.5 m above the ring surface, so about 4.5 m from the floor with a 100 cm platform. In exchange it needs no ceiling anchoring at all, since the masts are fixed to the ring's corner posts. Send us your ceiling height and we validate the configuration before quoting.
How does the lighting mast system work?
Each corner post of the ring extends into a mast, clamped in place, carrying 5500 K LED floodlights about 3.5 m above the ring — eight sealed floodlights in total, angled inwards to light without dazzling the boxers. Because the lighting is built into the structure, no suspended roof rig is needed: that is what makes the installation possible in a hall with no prior fit-out. The ring is available with or without the 4 masts.
What is the difference between a floor ring and a platform ring?
A floor ring sits directly on the floor: economical and ideal for training. A platform ring is raised from 10 cm to 1 m, which gives the visibility of show nights and gets boxers used to competition conditions.
Can a ring be customised with our colours and logo?
Yes. Logo printed on the canvas, the corner pads and the ropes, colours of your choice for ropes, posts and corners, and bespoke dimensions. The canvas and the ring skirt can carry your sponsors — that is the most visible surface in photographs and on video.
Which ring for an event or a demonstration?
The inflatable ring: it inflates in minutes with a blower, with no assembly, indoors or outdoors. Versions with a canopy or in a hexagonal MMA format are available for taster sessions and demonstrations.
Boxing ring or MMA cage: which should I choose?
It depends on your dominant discipline. A ring suits English boxing, Muay Thai and kickboxing; a cage becomes essential as soon as ground work and takedowns come in. For a multi-discipline club, the hybrid MMA cage combines both in a single structure. If MMA is your main practice, go to our MMA cages.
Do you deliver and support assembly?
Yes. We deliver clubs, gyms and organisers across Europe, the United Kingdom, North America and Australia. Delivery is by lorry: the site must be accessible to heavy goods vehicles. Every ring comes with its installation instructions and assembly plan, and technical support is available on request.
What warranty comes with a ring?
The structure is guaranteed 10 years under normal use. Wear parts — ropes, corner pads, canvas and skirts — are replaced individually, which lets a sound structure last well beyond that.
Can an old ring be refurbished?
Yes. Esprit Boxe offers partial or complete refurbishment kits: new canvas, skirt, ropes, corner pads and rope spacers, matched to the dimensions of your existing ring. It is often the most cost-effective way to give ten more years to a structure that is still sound.
