Punching bag wall mount

Wall mounts, folding arms, 2-in-1 brackets and floor stands: every way to hang a punching bag, at home or in the gym

The essentials: three families of support. Wall mounts (40, 60 or 100 cm reach, up to 150 kg) to hang a bag on a wall. The free-standing floor mount (200 kg) when no wall will do. And the folding, hinged and 2-in-1 models for when the room is used for something else between sessions. Free standard shipping. To hang several bags, see the heavy bag rail systems. The right choice depends above all on your substrate: wall, floor or ceiling.

🧱 A punching bag is only as good as its anchor

The fixing is what determines freedom of movement, noise level and, above all, safety: on a 40 kg bag in motion, the forces transmitted to the support go well beyond its static weight.

So before picking a model, look at what you actually have — a load-bearing wall, a concrete floor slab, or a ceiling. Our guide on how to hang a punching bag runs through every home and gym configuration with the matching hardware.

🔍 Choose by substrate: wall, floor or ceiling

This is the deciding criterion, ahead of load rating and ahead of price:

  • A solid load-bearing wall (concrete, solid block) → a wall mount.
  • No suitable wall → a floor-anchored stand, or a free-standing frame that needs no drilling at all.
  • Several bags to install → a rail system, covered in the heavy bag rail systems collection.

🔩 Wall mounts

A steel arm fixed to the wall. The reach — the distance between the wall and the axis of the bag — decides everything: the longer it is, the more you can circle the bag and work your footwork.

40 cm reach, compact. Ideal indoors and in narrow rooms, in three load ratings: 80 kg, 100 kg or 150 kg.

Long reach, more movement. The 60 cm mount, its reinforced version, and the 100 cm XXL to circle the bag completely.

Space saving. The folding mount and the premium hinged mount fold back against the wall after a session — the answer for living rooms, where the bag cannot stay out.

Boxing and strength work. The 2-in-1 bag and pull-up bar and the 350 kg multi-function station with three eyelets add a pull-up bar to bag work on the same anchor.

💪 Pro solutions

For heavy use: the pro bracket with a 120 cm sliding rail, which slides the bag aside to clear the area, and the 200 kg floor stand, anchored to the slab with no wall at all.

⛓️ Several bags: the rail system

Past one bag the logic changes: each bag hangs from a sliding trolley on a rail, grouped to clear the floor or spread out for training. Four mounting methods — wall, ceiling, gantry or central gantry — from 4 to 12 bags in bespoke powder-coated steel. It is all set out in the heavy bag rail systems collection.

⚠️ Safety and fixing

Wall supports need a very solid load-bearing wall (concrete or solid block); floor and gantry models anchor into a concrete slab; suspended rails go under a concrete slab or beam. Plasterboard, hollow brick and stud partitions are ruled out, without exception.

Good practice: check the substrate before buying, use the fixings supplied, and re-check the torque after the first few sessions and periodically after that. If you are unsure what the wall is made of, get a professional in.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Which punching bag wall mount should I choose?

It depends on the substrate and the use. With a load-bearing wall, a wall mount is enough: 40 cm reach for tight indoor spaces, 60 or 100 cm to circle the bag. Without a suitable wall, a floor-anchored stand or a free-standing frame. For several bags, see the heavy bag rail systems.

Which reach should I pick: 40, 60 or 100 cm?

Reach is the distance between the wall and the axis of the bag. At 40 cm the bag stays close to the wall: perfect for a hallway or a narrow room, but you mostly punch straight on. At 60 cm you can move to the sides. At 100 cm you circle the bag completely and work angles as you would on a ceiling-hung bag. The longer the reach, the greater the leverage on the wall — check the rated load and the quality of the substrate.

At what height should a punching bag mount be installed?

Position it so the top of the bag sits at eye level and the bottom reaches hip height, or lower if you throw kicks. Allow for the length of the bag plus the chain, and leave a few centimetres of adjustment. Too high and you punch upwards and lose your base; too low and the bag catches the floor on the rebound.

What kind of wall can take a punching bag mount?

Only a very solid load-bearing wall: poured concrete or solid block. Plasterboard, hollow brick and stud partitions will not do. Remember that a bag in motion transmits forces well above its static weight. If in doubt, consult a professional.

Can a punching bag be installed without drilling into a wall?

Yes. A floor stand is self-supporting and anchors through a base plate. For a completely drill-free option, a free-standing frame simply sits on the floor. And for several bags without a wall, the gantry rail rests on posts anchored into a concrete slab.

What is the difference between a wall mount and a rail system?

A wall mount hangs one bag from a fixed point. A rail carries several bags on sliding trolleys, 4 to 12 depending on the system, grouped or spread at will. It is the club and gym answer: see the heavy bag rail systems.
