Flooring, tatami mats, wall padding and post protection for boxing, MMA and martial arts clubs

The essentials: everything to floor and secure a combat gym. Professional tatami in 40, 50 or 60 mm (rice-straw finish for gi work, smooth vinyl for grappling), EVA puzzle mats from 25 to 50 mm, fitness tiles, Flexi-Roll matting by the roll, dedicated ring and cage floors, adhesive or screw-fixed wall padding and post protection. Customisation in your colours and logo, free floor layout plan, bespoke manufacture and delivery included.

The floor and the padding are the foundation of a martial arts gym: they take the falls, protect the practitioners and give your club a professional look. Esprit Boxe brings together a complete range — flooring for every use, wall and post protection — built for boxing, MMA, judo, wrestling and fitness clubs, from recreational level to competition.

🥋 Flooring for martial arts and combat

EVA puzzle tatami mats. The most economical way to a tatami surface: interlocking 1 m² EVA tiles, reversible, edging included, in 25, 30, 40 or 50 mm. Ideal for a multi-purpose dojo (karate, taekwondo, gymnastics, children's areas). See the EVA puzzle mats.

Rice-straw tatami. A textured grain surface that grips the gi: the reference for judo, aikido and ju-jitsu. In 40, 50 or 60 mm, density 180 or 230 kg/m³, 11 colours. See the rice-straw tatami.

Smooth vinyl tatami. A smooth surface for no-gi ground work: MMA, wrestling, grappling and BJJ. Same thicknesses, same densities and same colours as the rice-straw version. See the smooth vinyl tatami.

Flexi-Roll matting by the roll. Unrolls and stows in seconds: perfect for temporary or multi-purpose spaces. In 3, 4 or 5 cm thickness, 1 roll = 15 m². See the Flexi-Roll matting.

MMA cage flooring. Pre-cut to the diameter of your cage, from 4 × 4 m to 9 × 9 m, customisable, compatible with every cage. See the MMA cage flooring.

Boxing ring flooring. Customisable Flexi-Roll covering to dress the surface of a ring, from 4 × 4 m to 7 × 7 m. See the ring flooring.

🏋️ Flooring for fitness, home gym and cardio

🧱 Wall padding

Quick-fix wall padding — faux leather and premium foam panels in 2.5 or 5 cm, mounted on adhesive strips: no drilling, installed fast.

Gym wall padding — rigid panels with an OSB core and 5 cm of foam, screwed onto battens: structural, durable protection. Formats 120 × 60 and 180 × 60 cm.

🛡️ Post protection

Square post padding — a padded sleeve in foam and PVC with hook-and-loop closure, 200 cm tall, for internal sections from 30 × 30 to 60 × 60 cm. Makes posts safe inside the training area.

🥊 Dressing a ring

The floor of a ring is only part of the equation: the canvas and the surround matter just as much in the final look, especially for a club that films its bouts.

Ring canvas — the cover over the fighting surface, customisable in your colours and logo, in cotton, vinyl or cordura depending on how hard it is used.

Ring skirt — the surround, fixed with hook-and-loop and customisable: it is the most visible surface in photographs and on video, and the prime spot for partner logos.

📐 Which thickness should you choose?

This is the first technical criterion, ahead of colour and sometimes ahead of price: thickness determines how much a fall is absorbed, so which discipline the floor suits. The more throws involved, the more thickness you need.

❓ Frequently asked questions

What thickness of tatami should I choose?

It depends on the falls the floor has to absorb. Our vinyl tatami comes in 40, 50 and 60 mm: 40 mm suits stand-up and ground work without heavy throws, 50 mm is the most common club compromise, 60 mm becomes necessary as soon as throws are frequent. EVA puzzle mats run from 25 to 50 mm, fitness tiles from 20 to 30 mm, which is enough for strength work where nobody falls.

180 or 230 kg/m³: which tatami density?

230 kg/m³ is the reference density for judo: it is what takes repeated throws without packing down season after season. 180 kg/m³ is softer and perfectly suited to stand-up, ground work and disciplines without heavy throws. Both densities are available in rice-straw and smooth vinyl.

Which flooring should I choose for a martial arts gym?

EVA puzzle mats for an economical multi-purpose dojo, rice-straw tatami for judo and gi disciplines, smooth vinyl tatami for MMA, wrestling and grappling, and Flexi-Roll by the roll for temporary areas to be deployed quickly.

What is the difference between smooth and rice-straw tatami?

Same construction, different surface: smooth vinyl suits no-gi practice (MMA, grappling, wrestling), while the textured rice-straw finish grips the gi for judo, aikido and ju-jitsu. Both come in the same thicknesses, densities and 11 colours.

How do I protect the walls of a boxing gym?

Two solutions: quick-fix wall padding, bonded with adhesive strips without drilling, available in 2.5 or 5 cm, or gym wall padding with a 5 cm OSB core screwed onto battens for a structural fitting. Posts are protected with a padded hook-and-loop sleeve, in sections from 30 to 60 cm.

How do I clean and maintain a tatami?

Vinyl and EVA surfaces are washable: a damp mop with a neutral detergent is enough after sessions. Avoid aggressive products and solvents, which dull the vinyl and weaken the welds. Let it dry before training resumes, and check periodically that the edging and joints stay firmly in place.

Will the flooring protect my existing floor?

Yes. The foam spreads the load and absorbs impact, which preserves the concrete, tiles or wooden floor underneath.

Can floors and padding be customised in our colours?

Yes. Ring and cage floors, ring canvases and skirts, wall and post padding can all be customised in your colours and with your logo. The artwork is approved with you before manufacture.

Do you calculate the area and the layout?

Yes. Send your gym plan with the dimensions: we produce the layout drawing, the exact area and a quote on a sliding scale. This service is free.

What are the delivery times?

Standard delivery is included, with an indicative lead time of around 2 months depending on the product and the level of customisation.
