In short: the fight that pays, said in one symbol. Pair of boxing gloves pavé set right up onto the bail, each glove carrying a polished dollar sign in relief. 45 x 21 mm / 1.77 x 0.83 in, chain included, three finishes: yellow gold, rose gold or silver tone. €69, free standard shipping.
On 2 July 1921, at Boyle's Thirty Acres — a wooden stadium thrown up in nine weeks in Jersey City — Jack Dempsey knocked Georges Carpentier out in the fourth round in front of more than 80,000 people. The gate came to $1,789,238: the first time a prizefight passed a million dollars.
The dollar sign is raised, not engraved
The symbol is neither printed nor cut in: it is applied in relief, in polished metal, standing clear of the pavé on each of the two gloves. Close up, the vertical bar runs straight through the S without a break. That contrast between smooth metal and set stones is what carries the motif at a distance.
A measured marker: from five metres / sixteen feet you see two bright gloves; from a metre and a half / five feet the dollar reads clearly on each one.
Pavé all the way to the bail
The stones cover the full face of both gloves, the cuffs across several rows, and the bail itself, set on its visible faces. Two polished metal bands ring each cuff and break up the rows of stones, giving the eye a reference for reading the shape of the glove.
Yellow gold, rose gold or silver
All three finishes carry exactly the same design, the same pavé and the same raised dollar; only the colour of the metal changes. The group shot in the gallery shows them side by side under the same light, so you can compare tones rather than guess. Yellow gold gives the strongest contrast against the pale stones, rose gold softens it, silver tone all but removes it for a single-tone piece.

Good to know: the pavé cleans dry, with a soft cloth run between the rows and around the polished cuff bands where dust settles. Put perfume on before jewellery, take the necklace off for the shower and for training, and keep it in a pouch rather than in open air.

Frequently asked questions
Which finish should I choose?
The design, the 45 x 21 mm / 1.77 x 0.83 in footprint and the pavé are identical across all three; only the metal colour changes. Yellow gold gives the sharpest contrast with the pale stones, rose gold softens it, silver tone gives a single-tone piece. The group shot in the gallery shows all three under the same light.
Does it come with a chain?
Yes, the pendant ships with a chain matching the finish you pick. The bail also takes standard links, so you can hang it on a chain you already wear.
How big is the pendant?
45 mm / 1.77 in tall by 21 mm / 0.83 in wide, roughly a finger joint and a half. In the worn shot the pair spans the hollow of the throat and stays visible over an open collar.
Why is the dollar sign a boxing symbol?
It goes back to 2 July 1921: Dempsey against Carpentier took $1,789,238 through the gate in one evening, the first seven-figure gate in the history of sport. Promoter Tex Rickard had just proved that a fight could be sold like a show, and boxing became the sport where money is said out loud.
How do I clean a pavé set pendant?
Dry, with a soft cloth, working between the rows and around the polished cuff bands where dust collects. Skip the ultrasonic bath and silver dip, which can loosen the setting beads. Perfume before jewellery, and take it off for the shower.
