No Olympic gold medal has been solid gold since the Stockholm Games of 1912: IOC rules call for a disc of at least 92.5% silver gilded with a minimum of six grams of gold. Boxing has been on the Olympic programme since 1904, so every one of its champions for the past century has worn gold plate around the neck.
Sculpted in the round, not a flat silhouette
Both gloves are modelled in full relief: the fist is round, the thumb stands clear of the body, and the cuff opening is genuinely hollow with a mirror polished interior visible from underneath. The piece has a back, an underside and real depth, and reads from every angle.
That depth changes how the setting behaves. The pavé wraps a curved surface, so the rows of stones follow the round of the fist and tighten where the curve is sharpest. Light travels from row to row as the pendant swings rather than firing all at once.
The finish, close up
Three details reward a second look. The laces are sculpted in relief across the top of each glove, crossings and loops included. A twisted rope band circles each cuff, echoing the ring ropes. The inside of each glove is mirror polished, giving a smooth surface against the sparkle of the pavé.
Pavé across the whole piece
The setting runs over both gloves, up the cuffs and onto both faces of the bail. Each round brilliant cut stone sits in its own seat, held by raised beads of metal. Under magnification the rows stay aligned across the curves, which is where pavé is hardest to lay.
The hinged bail, and what it gives you
The bail opens on a hinge with a spring clasp, like a snap hook. You clip the pendant onto the chain you are already wearing in a couple of seconds, without unfastening it, and swap it out just as fast. The opening takes standard link chains.
The pendant is sold on its own, so you choose the length, the gauge and the metal of the chain that carries it.

Good to know: the stones are simulated, which is what makes full pavé possible on a 45 mm piece. The pendant is gold plated: to keep the plating bright year after year, take it off before showering, swimming and training, put perfume on before jewellery, and wipe it with a dry soft cloth after wear. The chain is chosen separately.

Are the stones real diamonds?
They are round brilliant cut simulated stones, and we say so plainly. The setting itself is the real thing: every stone sits in its own seat and is held by raised metal beads, across the entire surface and onto both faces of the bail. That choice of stone is what makes full pavé possible on a 45.40 mm / 1.79 in piece.
What is the difference between gold plated and solid gold?
Solid gold is gold all the way through; a plated piece is a base metal carrying a layer of gold. To the eye and on the neck they read the same. Simple care — off for the shower and the gym, perfume on first, a dry cloth after wear — keeps the plating bright over the long run.

How do you clean a gold plated pavé pendant?
Take it off before the shower, the pool and training, and put jewellery on last, once perfume is dry. Wipe it with a dry soft cloth after wear, working gently between the stones where dust settles. Clean it dry: no ultrasonic bath and no silver dip, both of which attack plating and can loosen the setting beads.
What does pavé set mean?
Pavé means paving a surface with small stones set tight against one another, each held by tiny beads of metal pushed up from the seat. The metal disappears under the stones, which is why the surface reads as continuous. Laid over a curve such as the fist of a glove, the rows have to tighten as the radius drops.
