No Boxing No Life: Eddy Reynoso's brand
No Boxing No Life is not a generic gym slogan. It is the name of a Mexican boxing equipment brand founded by Eddy Reynoso, trainer to Saúl « Canelo » Álvarez since 2005 and twice trainer of the year according to The Ring. The phrase began as the identity of his training camp before becoming a line of gloves, boots and headgear made in Mexico.
The turning point was 2018. The gloves were due to be worn by Canelo in his rematch with Gennady Golovkin that September; the opposing camp objected to a model never used in a world title fight, and they were set aside. Canelo finally wore them in December 2018 against Rocky Fielding, for his super-middleweight title. From then on the brand left the camp and became visible worldwide.
Other champions from the Reynoso stable have worn it since: Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis, Andy Ruiz, Oscar Valdez and Isaac Cruz.
The artwork
The print is entirely typographic, centred high on the chest, on two levels. BOXING takes the main line in very large serif capitals, framed by two banners crossing in an X behind the word, with NO above between two stars. Below, NO LIFE: NO small between two stars, LIFE in large capitals framed by stars in turn. Six stars in total.
The lettering is a solid gold fill, with no texture and no gradient, identical on both colourways — the contrast is simply stronger on black. Plain back.
