MMA cage panel structure

Key facts: the structure of an octagonal MMA cage, to pair with the floor of your choice. You get the 8 posts, the 8 mesh panels (one with a gate) that slot onto them, and the customisable corner pads — the mat is not included, so the floor covering stays your call. Rust-proof galvanised steel, 50 × 50 mm / 2 × 2 in mesh. Four sizes, from 4 × 4 m to 7 × 7 m / 13 ft 1 in to 23 ft, bespoke on request. 10-year structural warranty, 2 years on corners, delivery included. €4,490 to €5,990.
The thinking behind this version is simple: we supply the octagon, you decide on the floor. If your gym already has a tatami or a suitable covering, there is no reason to pay for a mat you do not need. You pay for the structure alone: 8 posts, 8 panels including one with a gate, and the 8 corner pads.
The structure is exactly the same as the one on our floor-level MMA cage: 8 posts, mesh panels that slot onto them, a gate and corner protection. The only difference is that the Flexi-Roll mat is not supplied — it stays available whenever you want it.
The floor stays your call
Buying the cage without the mat means reusing the tatami you already have, choosing the cushioning that suits you, or spreading the spend by adding the covering later. The structure is free-standing: it sits on a flat, stable floor, with no drilling.
The cage on its own: who is it for?
This configuration suits venues that want the octagon but not necessarily the floor that comes with it:
- Clubs and martial arts halls already fitted with a tatami or a cushioned floor.
- Projects on a tight budget, which prefer to add the mat in a second phase.
- Spaces keeping the cage for stand-up work (boxing, kick-based sparring) where the existing floor is enough.
- Anyone wanting cushioning to their own spec, choosing the thickness and density of the mat themselves.
Which floor to pair with your cage?
The cage sits on any flat, stable surface. Three cases come up most often:
- You already have a tatami: set the cage on it, nothing else to plan.
- You are starting from scratch: add our MMA cage floor mat (Flexi-Roll, 4 cm / 1.6 in) for a complete training surface.
- You want it all in one: the floor-level MMA cage brings the structure and the mat together in one set.
How much floor space do you need?
The size quoted is the footprint of the octagon. Add 1 m / 3 ft 3 in of clearance on each side for circulation and for the gate to swing: a 6 × 6 m cage therefore needs 8 × 8 m / 26 ft 3 in square of free floor. For height, count the 1.90 m / 6 ft 3 in panels plus the clearance above them. The floor must be flat and stable; the structure is free-standing, and bolting down to the slab remains optional.
Sizes available
The panel cage comes in four floor sizes (length × width of the octagon), to pick according to your hall:
- MMA cage 4 × 4 m / 13 ft 1 in.
- MMA cage 5 × 5 m / 16 ft 5 in.
- MMA cage 6 × 6 m / 19 ft 8 in.
- MMA cage 7 × 7 m / 23 ft.
- Other sizes on request at info@esprit-boxe.com.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference with the floor-level cage?
The structure is identical: same 8 posts, same panels, same gate, same corner pads. The floor-level cage adds the Flexi-Roll mat; this version leaves the floor covering to you.
Can I add the mat later?
Yes. The Flexi-Roll mat is sold separately in the sizes matching the cage, so you can add it whenever the budget allows without changing anything on the structure.
Does it need to be bolted to the floor?
No. The posts sit on base plates and the cage is free-standing on a flat, stable floor. Bolting to the slab is available as an option if you want it fixed permanently.
Can I put it on my existing tatami?
Yes, that is exactly what this version is for. The cage sits on any flat, stable surface, so a tatami or a cushioned floor already in place works.
What size should I choose?
4 × 4 m / 13 ft 1 in for a compact training space, 5 × 5 m and 6 × 6 m for club work and sparring, 7 × 7 m / 23 ft for the largest formats. Allow 1 m / 3 ft 3 in of clearance on each side.
What is the warranty?
10 years on the structure and 2 years on the corner pads, under normal use of the cage.
