On the gold mark design, the Apple logo appears through the back between the two fighters. It is the plainest proof that the ground is not printed: the case sits over the handset without covering it.

A clear back, and what it changes
The three light designs — belt, gold mark, red mark — let the colour of the handset show around the artwork, so the final look depends on your iPhone. The two McGregor designs sit on a dark photographic ground that covers most of the back.

Good to know: on the three light designs the colour of the handset takes part in the look; on a black iPhone the gold mark reads in hard contrast, on a light one it settles into the surface. Frequently asked questions
Is the back really clear?
Yes. On the gold mark design, the Apple logo on the handset can be made out through the back, between the two fighters. Only the central artwork, the edge lettering and the camera ring are printed. The two McGregor designs, by contrast, sit on a dark photographic ground that covers most of the back.

What does UFC stand for?
Ultimate Fighting Championship, the leading mixed martial arts organisation. The full wording is printed under the mark on two of the five designs, arced beneath it on the gold version.
Why is the mark green, white and orange on one design?
Those are the colours of the Irish flag, applied to the mark on the photographic design given to Conor McGregor, who fights out of Ireland. His name also runs in large vertical letters down the left side.
