Across the cuff, the lace strands genuinely pass over one another and the eyelets holding them are cut clear of the ground. This is neither an engraved line nor a printed motif: at 25 mm / 0.98 in you can follow a single strand from one edge to the other.

On the edge of the fist, fine notches mark the assembly. The rest of the body is left smooth and mirror polished, which pushes the lacing forward by contrast: light slides over the fist and catches in the hollows of the zigzag.
