A different category. These are not all-purpose training gloves: this is a fight model, for maximum wrist hold and power transfer with nothing lost on the way. Matte black and metallic gold, gold-stamped logo, full-grain cowhide.
Laces or velcro: why laces?
This is the real difference. Lacing wraps and locks the wrist joint along its whole length, lining wrist and forearm up precisely for a stability velcro does not match under heavy impact. The trade-off is that laces tighten best with a partner or a coach, and adjust more slowly. It is the choice of purists and of competition. If you gear up alone day to day, the velcro version is more practical: the black and gold sparring gloves.
Full-grain cowhide
The shell is 100 % full-grain cowhide, the top layer of the hide, chosen for shape memory and longevity. It takes thousands of compressions without cracking and works with time.

Frequently asked questions
Laces or velcro: what is the difference?
Laces give the best wrist hold and power transfer: it is the competition closure. Velcro is faster and lets you gear up on your own, which suits training.
Can you lace up boxing gloves on your own?
It is possible but awkward: a partner or coach gets a more even tightening. If you train alone often, the velcro version suits better, or a lace converter fitted over the lacing.
What oz boxing gloves are used in competition?
8 or 10 oz as a rule, though the exact weight depends on your weight class and your federation's rules. 12 to 16 oz is for training and sparring.
What is full-grain leather?
The top layer of the cowhide, the strongest part. It keeps the natural grain, resists wear better and patinates over time.
