The essentials: four images from the first film, the one from 1976 — the character in jacket and hat, in a gym tee, bare chested with the belt, and the arms-raised figure. Beneath them, the official ROCKY logo, its O replaced by that same figure. Premium cotton 180 gsm, crew neck, heat transfer print. Black, 7 sizes S to 4XL, €29, free shipping.
One artwork, four states of the character: the man on the street, the man training, the man winning, and the man people remember.
The 1976 film
Rocky was released in 1976. Written by Sylvester Stallone himself, then an unknown actor, it was shot on a small budget in under a month.
It took more than a hundred times its cost at the box office and won Best Picture at the Academy Awards — against Taxi Driver and Network. It launched a run of nine films, spin-offs included.
Its engine is not victory but going the distance: the character is not trying to win, he is trying to still be standing at the final bell. That is what the arms-raised figure sums up.
What it looks like on
A collage composition, across the full height of the chest, entirely in black and white.
Four images overlap with no frames:
- Centre — the character head on, soft hat and open jacket, looking up. The largest image
- Left — the same man in a gym tee, hands in pockets
- Right — bare chested, championship belt at the waist and gloves on
- Top right — backlit, arms raised, very small
At the bottom, the ROCKY logo in large white capitals, with the arms-raised figure in place of the O — the official logo of the series.
Premium cotton, crew neck, short sleeves, straight cut. Plain back.
