This double end bag needs no hole at all. Two lever suction cups replace screw-in hooks: press, fold the handle down, it is tensioned. In a rental, a flat, an office or on the road, it goes up in under a minute and packs into its bag. The 9 cm / 3.5 in foam ball is small and light: it comes back fast, hits quietly and breaks nothing.
What the 9 cm ball brings
The 9 cm / 3.5 in target is markedly smaller than a 20 cm / 8 in inflatable ball. The direct consequence: the margin for error is tiny, which makes it an excellent speed and hand-eye coordination tool once the movement is in place. For a first approach, a wide target like the 40 cm / 16 in ball builds distance first.
Firm foam gives a short, dry impact, very different from an inflated ball: that is the sensation that suits pure speed work.
It is, on the other hand, the format that is least intrusive in use and easiest to carry. No inflating, no valve to watch, no pump to lose. Plenty of people use it alongside an inflatable ball at home and this one in the kit bag.
Which surfaces the suction cups hold on
A lever suction cup needs a smooth, non-porous, clean and dry surface. It is the point most sellers leave out, and it decides whether the product works where you are.

Wipe the surface and the cup before each fitting: a speck of dust is enough to create an air leak. Check the hold with a firm pull before starting the session, and reposition the cup if it has moved.
Fitting and adjustment
Fix the upper cup to the ceiling or high on a wall, the lower one to the floor or low down. Then adjust the working length with the tightening loops until the centre of the ball sits between the chin and the eyes with the guard up: that placement is what makes slipping compulsory.
The 290 cm / 114 in of cord leave a comfortable margin, including under a high ceiling or on a diagonal wall fitting. Tension is then set as on the other models: the three settings — soft, medium and firm — are described in the tension settings chart.

Good to know: everything rests on the surface. On tile, glass, laminate or smooth wood the cups hold perfectly — that is the support to aim for. On render, bare plaster or textured wallpaper the vacuum does not form: in that case a hook model is the right answer. The 9 cm / 3.5 in ball is a fine target, and it rewards accuracy once the movement is in place.
