The Thai pad is the tool that opens training up to the legs. Where a focus mitt stops at the fists, this Esprit Boxe Thai pad takes low kicks, middle kicks and knees — the foundation of muay thai, kickboxing and MMA. Its light build lets you hold full rounds without the arms loading up.
38 x 19 x 10 cm: coverage and lightness
The 38 cm / 15 in length covers the forearm and protects the holder across the whole impact zone. The 19 cm / 7.5 in of width give a generous target, easy to find even on a kick thrown at full speed. The 10 cm / 4 in of thickness are the safety margin: that layer of high density padding dissipates the energy of a shin before it reaches the arm.
Curved design and shock absorption
The curved design gives an ideal impact surface: the foot or the knee meets a rounded area rather than a flat edge, which spreads the force across more surface and reduces the risk of a badly taken shot. The high density padding improves absorption and protects the holder's forearms through repeated series.
Reinforced handle and hook-and-loop straps
The back combines a reinforced handle, for a comfortable, secure hold, with hook-and-loop fixing straps that allow a custom fit to each coach's build. The pad stays locked to the forearm on impact: no rotation, no slipping, even on a powerful kick.
Premium PU leather and laced build
The shell is premium PU leather, chosen for a long working life. The rim is assembled with exposed lacing, stronger than plain stitching on an area under repeated strain. The striking face carries the Esprit Boxe mark in white, and the edge the ESPRIT BOXE marking framed by stars.

Using it well
- Tighten the straps before the round: a loose pad turns on the forearm and exposes the elbow.
- Meet the shot: move the pad slightly into the strike rather than taking it flat, the energy dissipates better.
- Braced arm, bent elbow: never extend the arm as you take a middle kick.
- Two pads for combinations: order a pair to equip both arms and run punches and kicks with no dead time.
- Care: wipe after each session with a dry cloth, air it and let it dry naturally.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Thai pad and what is it for?
A Thai pad is a long striking target the coach straps to the forearm. It is used to work kicks and knees safely: its thickness and high density padding absorb impacts a focus mitt could not take. It is the core equipment of muay thai, kickboxing and MMA.
What are the dimensions of this Thai pad?
38 cm / 15 in long, 19 cm / 7.5 in wide and 10 cm / 4 in thick. The length covers the forearm, the width gives a target that is easy to find, and the thickness provides the safety margin against kicks.
Thai pad or focus mitt: which should I choose?
It depends on the techniques you work. A focus mitt goes on the hand, stays thin and suits punch work: speed, combinations, precision. A Thai pad straps to the forearm and absorbs kicks and knees. A fully equipped club has both, often with a shield as well for the heaviest shots.
What is premium PU leather?
A higher grade synthetic leather, chosen here for its working life and its lightness. On a Thai pad, lightness counts as much as strength: the coach holds the equipment at arm's length for the whole round. PU leather is also easier to clean than real leather and unaffected by damp.
Is it suitable for beginners?
Yes, provided whoever holds the pad is properly set: straps tight, elbow bent, arm braced and a slight movement into the shot. That is exactly what a Thai pad is for — letting a beginner strike hard without risk, which a focus mitt does not allow.
How do you look after it?
Wipe the surface with a dry or lightly damp cloth after each session, then let it dry at room temperature. Avoid soaking and direct heat. Check the state of the lacing and the grip of the hook-and-loop straps from time to time.
