Gel hand wraps

The essentials: gel-padded boxing inner gloves, pulled on like a mitt instead of wrapping the hand turn by turn. Thick gel over the metacarpals to spread the energy of impacts, tear-resistant stretch polyester, and a 69 cm / 27 in hook-and-loop strap in nylon and cotton that locks the wrist. One size, hand circumference 17 to 24 cm / 6.7 to 9.4 in. 6 colours. Sold as a pair. €24, free standard shipping.
Wrapping your hands properly takes a good minute per hand, and you have to have learned how. These inner gloves remove the step: pull on, wind the strap, tighten. A few seconds, the same result every time, with no technique to master.
Gel, where it counts
The padding sits over the back of the metacarpals, exactly where the fist makes contact. Its job is not to cushion the way a glove does, but to spread the energy of the impact over a wider area instead of concentrating it on two joints.
That tells most on long bag sessions, where it is the repeated impacts, more than their intensity, that end up marking the hands.
A 69 cm strap, not a tab
This is what separates these inner gloves from basic models. The hook-and-loop strap is 69 cm / 27 in long: enough for several turns of the wrist and a genuine hold, where a short strap does no more than close the mitt.
Its nylon and cotton blend gives it a little stretch: it tensions, follows the wrist and keeps its grip through the session.
Gel or traditional wraps?
Both have their place in a kit bag. Here is how to decide:
| Criterion | Gel inner gloves | Traditional wraps |
|---|---|---|
| Putting them on | A few seconds | About a minute per hand |
| Technique needed | None | Has to be learned |
| Adjustment | Wrist strap only | Turn by turn, to measure |
| Finger protection | Fingers free | Passes between the fingers possible |
| Best for | Bag work, boxing fitness, quick sessions | Sparring, heavy work |
Our advice: plenty of people keep both — gel for the sessions you arrive late to and for bag work, traditional wraps for sparring, where fine wrist adjustment counts for more.

Using them well
- Measure your hand around the metacarpals, thumb excluded: the one size covers 17 to 24 cm / 6.7 to 9.4 in.
- Pull on, thumb through the opening provided, then wind the strap upwards towards the forearm.
- Tighten firmly without blocking: you should be able to close the fist and still feel your fingers.
- Air dry them after every session: like any mitt, they hold sweat if left in the bag.
- Wash by hand or in the machine in a net, at low temperature, no tumble dryer: heat distorts the gel.
You may also like
- Esprit Boxe wraps — semi-elastic nylon and cotton, if you want a constant hold with regular training.
- Pair with pouch — cotton, 2 wraps and a storage pouch in 7 colours, if you are kitting out in one go.
- Lace converter — a hook-and-loop closure fitted over laced gloves, if you train without a partner.
All the models are gathered in the boxing hand wraps collection.
Frequently asked questions
Do gel wraps really replace traditional hand wraps?
For bag work, boxing fitness and quick sessions, yes: the gel spreads impact over the metacarpals and the 69 cm / 27 in strap holds the wrist. For sparring, traditional wraps keep the edge, because turn-by-turn adjustment and passes between the fingers cannot be reproduced by a mitt.
What size should I choose?
One size covers a hand circumference of 17 to 24 cm / 6.7 to 9.4 in. Measure around the metacarpals with the thumb excluded, the way you would for a glove.
How long do they take to put on?
A few seconds. Pull on, thumb through the opening, wind the strap towards the forearm, tighten. Against about a minute per hand for a traditional wrap, and no technique to learn.
Does the gel protect the fingers?
No, the fingers stay free: the padding sits over the back of the metacarpals, where the fist makes contact. For passes between the fingers, a traditional wrap is the answer.
How do you look after them?
Air dry after every session — like any mitt, they hold sweat if left in the bag. Wash by hand or in the machine in a net, at low temperature, and never in the tumble dryer: heat distorts the gel.
Are they sold as a pair?
Yes, one pair — one for each hand, in the colour chosen.
