A boxing licence can be taken from the age of 6
Governing bodies issue a youth boxing licence for controlled sparring from 6 years old, with no upper age limit — the French federation sums the practice up as running from 6 to 77.
What sets this form of boxing apart is not the technique, which is the same, but power. In youth boxing you touch, you do not hit. Two requirements underpin the discipline: do no harm to your opponent, and face sanction for any violent behaviour. A boxer who hits hard, or shows the intention of doing so, can be disqualified without prior warning.
Bouts run over three rounds separated by a minute's rest, and no bout pairs two boxers more than two years apart in age. The minimum weight to compete is 15 kg / 33 lb in the youngest categories. That is the reality this size chart covers, starting at 95 cm / 3 ft 1 in and 13 kg / 29 lb.
The set
The vest: satin, round neck, wide armholes, straight cut. A name panel runs across the chest, shown on the images by the word NAME in yellow capitals.
The shorts: matching satin, wide yellow waistband carrying a round badge at the centre, yellow vertical piping down the sides, length above the knee. Two name panels are provided, one on each leg, also shown by the word NAME.
The 3 colourways
Blue, red and black. On all three the waistband, the badge, the side piping and the name panels are yellow. Blue and red are the two corner colours of a ring; black is the neutral version.

Size conversion: height and weight
The maker's chart is indexed on the wearer's height in centimetres, not on an adult garment size. That is what lets one model cover a child of 95 cm / 3 ft 1 in and an adult of 1.84 m / 6 ft.
| Size | Maker's marking | Height | Suggested weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 100 | 95 to 104 cm / 3 ft 1 in to 3 ft 5 in | 13 to 18 kg / 29 to 40 lb |
| XS | 110 | 105 to 114 cm / 3 ft 5 in to 3 ft 9 in | 15 to 20 kg / 33 to 44 lb |
| S | 120 | 115 to 124 cm / 3 ft 9 in to 4 ft 1 in | 18 to 25 kg / 40 to 55 lb |
| M | 130 | 125 to 134 cm / 4 ft 1 in to 4 ft 5 in | 20 to 30 kg / 44 to 66 lb |
| L | 140 | 135 to 144 cm / 4 ft 5 in to 4 ft 9 in | 30 to 40 kg / 66 to 88 lb |
| XL | 150 | 145 to 154 cm / 4 ft 9 in to 5 ft 1 in | 40 to 50 kg / 88 to 110 lb |
| XXL | 160 | 155 to 164 cm / 5 ft 1 in to 5 ft 5 in | 50 to 60 kg / 110 to 132 lb |
| XXXL | 170 | 165 to 175 cm / 5 ft 5 in to 5 ft 9 in | 60 to 70 kg / 132 to 154 lb |
| 4XL | 180 | 175 to 184 cm / 5 ft 9 in to 6 ft | 70 to 85 kg / 154 to 187 lb |
Good to know: follow height first and treat the weight column as a cross-check. The maker quotes a tolerance of 1 to 3 cm / 0.4 to 1.2 in. Between two lines, take the larger for a child who is growing.

Frequently asked questions
What size boxing kit should I choose for a child?
Follow the height, not the garment size. The chart runs from 95 cm / 3 ft 1 in in XXS to 184 cm / 6 ft in 4XL, with a suggested weight for each line. The full table is above on this page.
From what age can a child box?
Governing bodies issue a youth licence from 6 years old. At that level you touch rather than hit: bouts run over three rounds, and no bout pairs two boxers more than two years apart in age.
Does this kit fit an adult?
Yes. The chart goes up to 4XL, covering 175 to 184 cm / 5 ft 9 in to 6 ft and 70 to 85 kg / 154 to 187 lb. This reference covers child and adult on one chart.
Can a first name be added?
Three name panels are provided on the garment — chest, left leg, right leg — shown on the images by the word NAME. The marking itself is done by an embroiderer or a printer of your choice.
Which colourway should I choose?
Blue and red are the two corner colours of a ring, so they are the ones used in competition. Black is the neutral version for training.
How do you wash satin?
Machine at 30 °C / 86 °F, inside out, no tumble dryer. Satin keeps its sheen as long as it is not overheated: no iron on the markings, and dry flat rather than on a radiator.
