A mouthguard does more than save teeth. It absorbs the shock passed to the jaw, stops the upper and lower teeth colliding, and keeps the lip off the incisors. A broken tooth does not grow back, and repairing one runs into hundreds of euros: that is what this mouthguard prevents.
Boil and bite: a mould of your own bite
A stock mouthguard floats in the mouth: it shifts, it gets in the way of your breathing and it ends up spat out in the first hard round. This model is boil and bite: it softens in hot water, moulds onto your teeth, then hardens holding the impression.
It then stays put without you clenching your jaw to hold it, which changes everything over a long session.
How to mould it
- Prepare a container of boiling water and a bowl of cold water.
- Drop the mouthguard fully into the boiling water for a few seconds, until it softens.
- Lift it out and dip it briefly in the cold water, so it does not burn your mouth.
- Set it on the upper teeth, press it into shape with your thumbs, close the jaw lightly and suck to draw the material against the teeth.
- Take it out and drop it into the cold water to set the impression.
If the mould does not come out right: the process is reversible. Put the mouthguard back into boiling water, the material returns to its original shape and you can start again. Just avoid repeating the cycle too often: EVA tires with use.
EVA and puncture resistance
EVA is the reference material for mouthguards: soft enough to follow the bite, dense enough to absorb and spread the energy of an impact instead of passing it straight to the jaw.
High puncture resistance is the criterion people forget to check: it is what stops an incisor driving through the material on a frontal shot, and what decides the real working life of the mouthguard.
Which colour to choose
The material, the dimensions and the protection are identical across the five colours. The choice is purely a matter of taste, with two practical notes:
- The clear one disappears in the mouth and keeps its clarity with a rinse after each session.
- The bright colours are spotted instantly at the bottom of a bag or on a club mat, where a clear one blends in.

Care and lifespan
- Rinse it in cold water after each session, then let it air dry.
- Never hot water for cleaning: it would soften the material and erase your impression.
- Keep it in its case, never loose at the bottom of a bag: it gets crushed, picks up odours and carries bacteria back into your mouth.
- Keep it out of a hot car and away from radiators: heat distorts the impression.
- Replace it as soon as it punctures, splits or stops holding in place.

Frequently asked questions
How do you mould a boil and bite mouthguard?
Drop it fully into boiling water for a few seconds, dip it briefly in cold water so you do not burn yourself, set it on the upper teeth, press it into shape with your thumbs, close the jaw lightly and suck to draw the material tight. Finish with a dip in cold water to set the impression.
Can you redo the mould if it goes wrong?
Yes, the process is reversible: put back into boiling water, the EVA returns to its original shape and you can start again. Avoid repeating the cycle too often, though, as the material tires over time.
Does the colour change the protection?
No. The material, the dimensions and the resistance are identical across the five colours: blue, red, green, yellow and clear. The choice is aesthetic. Just note that a bright colour is easier to spot at the bottom of a bag or on a club mat than a clear one.
Single or double mouthguard?
This is a single: it sits on the upper jaw, leaves the lower jaw free and interferes less with breathing and speech. It is the most common format in boxing. The double protects both jaws and suits disciplines where shots also come from below, in exchange for more bulk.
How do you clean and store it?
Rinse it in cold water after each session and let it air dry before putting it back in its case. Never use hot water for cleaning: it would soften the material and erase your impression.
Is the case included?
Yes, a vented storage case fitted with a ring, which you can clip to your bag. Always keep your mouthguard in it: left loose at the bottom of a bag it gets crushed, picks up odours and carries bacteria back into your mouth.
