For body work and hooks, yes: hung at the right height the striking zone sits at chest level. For head work as well, a 120 cm or taller bag gives the full range.
What ceiling height do you need for a punching bag?
80 cm of bag plus 30 to 40 cm of hanging fits comfortably under a standard 2.50 m / 8 ft ceiling.
What do you fill a punching bag with?
Cut textile and rags packed down layer by layer, with sand or granulate in sealed bags at the base if you want more weight. Never loose sand: it settles and hardens.
Do you need gloves to hit a punching bag?
