Two minutes twelve, in a Maine ice rink
The Ali–Liston rematch was meant to be held in Boston on 16 November 1964. A hernia postponed it, then organisational trouble moved it to Lewiston, a town of under 41,000 people in Maine, at the St. Dominic's Arena. 2,434 spectators turned up: the smallest crowd ever recorded for a world heavyweight championship.
On 25 May 1965, Liston went down in the first round to a short right that half the room never saw. The count was lost, the referee took several seconds to pick it up, and the fight was finally stopped at 2 minutes 12. The photograph taken in the seconds that followed — Ali standing over him, shouting at him to get up — became the most reproduced image in the sport.
What you see
The original black and white photograph, with the whole setting kept. Ali stands in the centre panel, light trunks with a dark waistband, right arm drawn in, mouth open. Liston is on the floor at the bottom of the frame, across the centre and right panels.
Around the ring, the front row is filled with photographers with cameras at their eye, visible on the intermediate panels; the ropes and a corner post cross the composition. From 3 m / 10 ft you read two figures and a crowd; from 1 m / 3 ft you can make out the faces at ringside.

How to hang a 5 panel canvas
The five panels go side by side: the image is continuous and reassembles in one piece. Put up the centrepanel first, its middle 145 cm / 57 in from the floor, then add the panels in pairs eitherside, checking the level at each pair. A paper template on the wall before drilling saves redoing the holes.
The width rule is the same as for a single canvas: the set covers about two thirds of the width ofthe furniture below it. The size chart by wall type gives the full size-to-placement table.

Frequently asked questions
What size 5 piece canvas should I choose?
The five panels are hung side by side, so what counts is the total width — 50, 100, 150 or 200 cm / 20, 39, 59 or 79 in depending on the grid — not the size of a single panel. Allow the 20 × 35 grid above a chest of drawers, the 30 × 40 grid above a three-seater sofa, and the 40 × 60 grid on a clear wall over three metres / 10 ft.
How do I hang a canvas in 5 parts?
Start with the centre panel, its middle 145 cm / 57 in from the floor, then add the panels in pairs either side, checking the level at each pair. A paper template on the wall before drilling saves redoing the holes.
Does it arrive ready to hang?
Two options in the selector. Without frame: the panels ship rolled in a protective tube with a white border, to be mounted on stretchers. With frame: they arrive already mounted on wooden stretchers, ready to hang. The five stretcher kit covers the panels sold on their own.
What exactly happened in this photograph?
Liston had just gone down in the first round at Lewiston on 25 May 1965. Ali refused to go to a neutral corner and stood over him shouting at him to get up; the referee lost the count and the fight was stopped at 2 minutes 12.
Are the 5 panels sold together?
Yes. The price covers the five panels, and the grid chosen applies to the set: the panels are not sold separately and ship together.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
