The essentials: the stretcher kit that turns a rolled canvas into a picture ready to hang. Five stretchers per kit, one per panel, 3 cm / 1.2 in bars assembled with no glue and no screws, in 8 sizes matching the grids of the collection. From €29 to €129 depending on size.
Stretched canvas replaced the wooden panel in Venice
Until the fifteenth century, painting was done on solid wooden panels: heavy, and sensitive to changes in humidity. It was in Venice, a city of sailmaking workshops and permanent damp, that canvas stretched on a frame took over — lighter, transportable rolled, and reassembled on arrival.
The principle has not changed. A printed canvas arrives rolled in a tube, and it is the stretcher that gives it flatness, rigidity and its lift off the wall.
What the kit contains
One kit covers a complete 5 panel picture: the bars for all five stretchers, the corner braces and the instructions. The bars are pre-notched at the ends and slot together in pairs; the wedges supplied are tapped in with a mallet to bring the whole thing into tension.
No glue, no screws, no power tools. A hammer or mallet, a square to check the corners, and a staple gun to fold the canvas over at the back.

Choosing the right size
Order the grid that matches the canvas, not a single panel: the kit is sold per complete picture. A canvas ordered in the 30 × 40 / 30 × 60 / 30 × 80 cm grid takes the kit of the same name. The collection uses four grids; the kit covers eight, which also makes it usable on rolled canvases bought elsewhere, provided they carry a 3 cm / 1.2 in white margin.

Frequently asked questions
What size frame do I need for a 5 piece canvas?
The grid that matches the canvas: the kit is sold per complete picture, five stretchers included. A canvas in the 30 × 40 / 30 × 60 / 30 × 80 cm grid takes the kit of the same name.
How do I assemble a canvas stretcher?
The bars are pre-notched and slot together in pairs at the corners. Tap the wedges in with a mallet to bring the frame into tension, check the corners with a square, then fold the canvas over at the back and staple it. No glue, no screws, no power tools.
Will this frame fit a canvas bought elsewhere?
Yes, provided the canvas carries a white margin of at least 3 cm / 1.2 in on each side to fold over the bars, and its panel sizes match one of the eight grids offered.
What wood is this frame made from?
Solid pine, planed, with bars 3 cm / 1.2 in thick. Unvarnished and unstained: the frame sits behind the canvas and is not meant to be seen.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
