Boxing used to be a college sport
This bevelled serif lettering is the lettering of American college jerseys, and boxing wore it for almost thirty years: the NCAA ran a college boxing championship from 1932 to 1960.
The sport was popular enough that 55 universities entered in 1948, and Wisconsin's home meets filled a 15,000 seat arena. The championship was dropped in 1960 after a fighter died of injuries sustained in the final — which is why this typography reads as historical rather than current.
The artwork
BOXING in six very wide white capitals with bevelled serifs, centred high on the chest and taking up almost the full width of the body.
The ink is laid in a washed texture, uneven and lightly scratched, never as a solid flat: at one metre you see the grain, at five metres you read only the word. No other text, no illustration. Plain back.
The garment
Lined hood with a drawcord, kangaroo pocket, ribbed cuffs and hem. Straight cut, set-in long sleeves.

Frequently asked questions
What is collegiate lettering?
The bevelled serif capitals used on American university sports jerseys, usually set in an arc or straight across the chest. It is the register this print borrows.
Was boxing really a college sport?
Yes. The NCAA ran a boxing championship from 1932 to 1960, with 55 universities entered in 1948 and Wisconsin filling a 15,000 seat arena. It ended in 1960.
Is there any other print on it?
No. BOXING alone across the chest, with no illustration, no date and a plain back.
Does it come in other colours?
Not this model — black only. The washed white ink is calibrated for a dark ground.
What size should I take?
European cut — take your usual size, with no Asian sizing to convert. Six sizes from S to XXXL, all at the same price. Over training kit, go up one.
How do I care for the print?
Machine wash at 30 °C / 86 °F inside out, no tumble dryer, and never run an iron over the print. Heat transfer film holds for years on that routine and gives way to heat, not to washing.
