Training camp, a word borrowed from the army
When a boxer prepares for a fight, he does not say he is training: he says he is in camp. The term comes straight from military vocabulary, and it describes the same thing — an isolated group, a dedicated place, a fixed duration, usually six to eight weeks before the date of the fight. This jacket takes up the pattern: four camo colourways, a hood, and 71 cm / 28 in of back length in M.
The principle goes back to nineteenth-century Britain, where prizefighters retired to the countryside for what was then called training, supervised by a trainer who controlled sleep, meals and running. The logic has not moved since: you leave your daily life, you live next to the gym, you go out running early.
Camo worn on boxing kit echoes that vocabulary. It has never been about hiding in a ring.
Cut, fabric and finish
A two-part build. The camo print covers the hood, the shoulders, the sleeves and the sides. A plain black panel runs across the chest and down the whole front, either side of the zip. The contrast between the two zones is sharp and reads at a distance.
Hood set on the collar, full zip with a black pull, two side pockets, elasticated cuffs and hem. The shell is light: this is a windbreaker, not a padded jacket.
The markings and the 4 camo patterns
The Lonsdale lion, the word LONSDALE and the wording LONDON are printed in white on the right chest, above the black panel. On the back, the same logo is repeated large on a white panel, centred between the shoulder blades.
Four versions of the pattern: green camo (olive, brown and beige, the classic military print), red camo, grey camo and blue camo.

Frequently asked questions
Why is camo used on boxing kit?
Because of the vocabulary. A boxer preparing for a fight says he is in camp — a term taken straight from the army, describing an isolated group, a dedicated place and a fixed duration, usually six to eight weeks. Camo echoes that. It has never been about hiding in a ring.
Is it warm, or just a windbreaker?
A windbreaker: the shell is light and there is no padding. It cuts the wind, packs down small and layers over a hoodie. For a lined version, see the lined Lonsdale windbreaker.
How long is it in the body?
71 cm / 28 in of back length in M, which covers the hips. Worth knowing if you like a jacket that sits below the waistband rather than at it.
What are the four camo patterns?
Green — olive, brown and beige, the classic military print — plus red, grey and blue. Build, cut and price are identical across the four; only the print changes.
Is the logo printed on the back?
Yes, large on a white panel centred between the shoulder blades, with a smaller lion and LONDON on the right chest.
How do you look after it?
Machine wash at 30 °C / 86 °F, inside out, no tumble dryer and no iron directly on the print. Washing inside out is what protects the marking: it is the friction against the drum that dulls a print, more than the water.
