A belly pad designed for boxing reaches its limits as soon as a kick to the liver or a flying knee lands in the target. The energy is not the same, and neither is the impact area. This pad is sized for that work: thicker, wider, more wrap-around, so a coach can hold an MMA or muay thai session without counting the rounds.
What a belly pad is for
It does two jobs at once. It protects the coach or partner taking the shots, and it trains the person throwing them. The boxer works hooks to the liver, straights to the plexus and combinations to the midsection on a living target that moves, presents itself and pulls away — which no bag reproduces.
It is also a good abdominal conditioning tool: worn by the boxer, it allows series to the stomach to be taken safely, to get the body used to contact before competition.
80 mm of foam: taking middle kicks
This is the figure that sets this pad apart. The multiple layers of high-density foam reach up to 80 mm / 3.1 in, against 60 mm / 2.4 in on a classic boxing belly pad. Those two extra centimetres change everything against round kicks to the midsection and knees in the clinch, whose power is measured in multiples of a hook.
Additional extra thickness over the abs and the sides reinforces the areas genuinely exposed: the liver on the right, the spleen on the left, the plexus in the middle. Energy is dissipated in the material rather than passed into the wearer's ribs.
45 x 35 cm: a target that really covers the flanks
At 45 cm / 17.7 in wide and 35 cm / 13.8 in tall, the striking surface runs well onto the flanks. That is essential in MMA and muay thai, where impacts are not always frontal: a round kick arrives from the side, a knee comes up on a diagonal, and a narrow pad leaves the floating ribs exposed.
The curved shape follows the torso instead of floating in front of it: the pad stays against the body even when the coach pivots to present the target.
60 mm boxing or 80 mm MMA: which one
Both pads are the same price, so the choice is made on the discipline. If you hold boxing sessions, the 60 mm belly pad is lighter to wear over time. As soon as legs and knees come into the work, this 80 mm version is the right call.
PU leather and rear hook-and-loop
The outer facing is very high-quality PU leather: it takes the friction of gloves and shins session after session and wipes clean with a cloth, which counts for kit shared between several coaches in the same club.
The wide rear hook-and-loop band lets you fit, adjust and lock the pad in a few seconds, on any build. Two coaches can swap between rounds without losing time on settings.

Positioning: the pad sits over the navel, running onto the flanks, with the rear hook-and-loop pulled tight standing up. Brace on impact and breathe out on the shot received — the 80 mm / 3.1 in absorbs the bulk of it, and a braced torso takes it even better.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference with the boxing belly pad?
Thickness and surface. This one reaches 80 mm / 3.1 in against 60 mm / 2.4 in, over 45 x 35 cm / 17.7 x 13.8 in, and its curved shape runs further onto the flanks. That is what it takes for kicks and knees. Both are the same price.
Does it really take kicks and knees?
That is what it is built for. Up to 80 mm / 3.1 in of multi-layer high-density foam, with extra thickness over the abs and the sides, dissipates the energy of round kicks and clinch knees in the material instead of passing it to the ribs.
What are its exact dimensions?
45 cm / 17.7 in wide by 35 cm / 13.8 in tall, in a curved shape that follows the torso. The width is what covers the floating ribs, which a narrow pad leaves exposed.
Does it come in several sizes?
It is one size. The wide rear hook-and-loop band covers any build and is reset in a few seconds, so two coaches can swap between rounds.
How do you position it properly?
Over the navel, running onto the flanks, with the hook-and-loop pulled tight standing up. The curved shape should sit against the torso rather than float in front of it.
How do you look after it?
Wipe the PU leather with a slightly damp cloth after each session and air dry it away from direct heat. Shins and gloves leave marks that come off easily as long as they are not left to build up.
