The essentials: an abdominal belly pad built to take body shots — hooks to the liver, straights to the plexus, knees. High-quality PU leather, multi-layer high-density foam of about 60 mm / 2.4 in, with extra thickness over the abs and the sides. 40 x 30 x 25 cm / 15.7 x 11.8 x 9.8 in for 1.1 kg / 2.4 lb: a generous striking surface without loading the wearer. Adjustable rear hook-and-loop closure. Two colourways: grey or beige. €99, free standard shipping.
Holding a session is not only about presenting focus mitts. As soon as the work goes to the body, it is the coach's trunk that takes it. This belly pad is designed for that: to offer a firm, generous target at midsection height, absorb the power instead of returning it into the wearer's ribs, and stay light enough to work round after round without turning into armour.
What a belly pad is for
It does two jobs at once. It protects the coach or partner taking the shots, and it trains the person throwing them. The boxer works hooks to the liver, straights to the plexus and combinations to the midsection on a living target that moves, presents itself and pulls away — which no bag reproduces.
It is also a good abdominal conditioning tool: worn by the boxer, it allows series to the stomach to be taken safely, to get the body used to contact before competition.
60 mm of foam: taking it without stepping back
The whole value of a belly pad lies in its thickness and in the quality of its foams. This one stacks several layers of high-density foam to an average thickness of about 60 mm / 2.4 in, with extra thickness over the abs and the flanks — exactly where hooks and body uppercuts land.
The energy of the shot is dissipated in the material instead of being passed to the wearer. In practice, the coach takes a hard series without stepping back and without having to cut the session short.
1.1 kg: a weight that counts over an hour
At 1.1 kg / 2.4 lb, this pad sits at the lower end of its class — plenty of comparable models go past 1.5 kg / 3.3 lb. Over an hour-long session, where the coach keeps moving and switching stance, those few hundred grams are felt directly in the lower back.
Its dimensions of 40 x 30 x 25 cm / 15.7 x 11.8 x 9.8 in give the measure of the surface offered: wide enough to cover the abdomen and run onto the flanks, deep enough to stay against the torso rather than float in front of it.
Boxing or striking sports: which thickness
The 60 mm / 2.4 in version, the one on this page, is calibrated for fists: it stays slim, keeps the torso mobile and lets the wearer move quickly between series. The 80 mm version adds two centimetres of foam to take knees and kicks as well. Both are the same price: the choice is made on the discipline.

Frequently asked questions
What is a belly pad for in boxing?
Two things at once. It protects the coach taking the shots and it trains the boxer throwing them: hooks to the liver, straights to the plexus and combinations to the midsection, on a target that moves and pulls away, which no bag reproduces.
Should I take the 60 mm or the 80 mm version?
60 mm / 2.4 in for boxing: it stays slim and keeps the torso mobile for fists. 80 mm / 3.1 in as soon as knees and kicks come in. Both are the same price, so the choice is the discipline.
What is the difference between a belly pad and a chest protector?
Coverage. The belly pad concentrates on the abdominal band and stays light for body work. A chest protector takes in the whole torso, for sessions mixing high shots and kicks.
Does it come in several sizes?
It is one size, at 40 x 30 x 25 cm / 15.7 x 11.8 x 9.8 in. The rear hook-and-loop is what covers a range of builds, and it is reset in a few seconds between two coaches.
How do you position it properly?
Over the navel, running onto the flanks, with the hook-and-loop pulled tight standing up. Too high and the lower abdomen is exposed; too low and it restricts the hips.
How do you look after a belly pad?
Wipe the PU leather with a slightly damp cloth after each session and air dry it away from direct heat. On kit shared between several coaches, that wipe is what keeps it clean and holding its shape.
