The trace printed on this mat has a measured basis. INSEP research on the physiology of amateur boxing puts the heart rate of boxers at VO2max at an average of 192 beats per minute. Across intermittent work of three minutes on and one minute off — the shape of a round — the rate holds between 83% and 88% of that maximum. A working boxer's heart does not draw a flat line: it draws this sawtooth, the one this mat reproduces.
What is printed
A white pulse line crosses the mat from edge to edge. At its centre it turns into two boxer silhouettes mid exchange, one landing a punch, the other giving ground. No words appear in the design. At three metres / ten feet you see a white line on black; at one metre / three feet you make out the two fighters.

Three sizes, 40 x 60, 50 x 80 and 60 x 90 cm / 16 x 24, 20 x 31 and 24 x 35 in. The trace is horizontal and runs the full width, so it gains from being seen lengthways: the 60 x 90 is where the line has the most room. The size chart tells you which size matches which door.

Can a doormat go in the washing machine?
