Red or blue: the colour of a glove is not a free choice
In an official ring, glove colour is not an aesthetic decision. Each boxer is assigned a red corner or a blue corner, and his gloves take that colour so that judges, referee and spectators can tell instantly who is landing. It is also what makes punch counting possible: officials credit hits to a colour, not to a name.
In amateur and professional boxing alike, federations also require both fighters to wear gloves of the same make and model, supplied or approved by the promoter. A multicoloured pair like this one therefore exists only outside competition — in a gym, or on a wall.
What you see
Portrait format, white ground flecked with pale spatter. Two gloves hang by their laces, one slightly higher than the other, cuffs up. The leather is painted in watercolour: washes of pink, magenta, blue, yellow and purple bleeding into each other with no outline, running downwards, with spatter all around.
The cuffs are metallic silver, the only cool, hard-edged area in the composition. Across the leather, hand-drawn lettering shows through under the washes, too dissolved in the colour to form whole words. From 3 m / 10 ft you read two coloured gloves on white; from 1 m / 3 ft you see the colour running past the drawing.

Worth knowing: the white ground merges into a white wall and the gloves appear to sit on the plaster. On a coloured wall, a wooden frame gives the edge back. No face and no quote to read: it is a colour piece before it is a boxing piece. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
A watercolour with no outline wants distance
The colour runs past the drawing and no outline is ever closed: the eye rebuilds the two gloves by stepping back, not by leaning in. The canvas gains from distance rather than sheer size — 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in in an office, 90 × 130 cm / 35 × 51 in on a clear living room span. Is there any text on this canvas?
No quote and no title. Hand-drawn lettering shows through the washes on the leather, but it is deliberately dissolved into the colour and forms no readable words: it is part of the texture.
Is the background of this canvas white?
Yes, printed white with pale spatter and no border. On a white wall the gloves appear to sit on the plaster; on a coloured wall a wooden frame gives the canvas a defined edge.

How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
