The essentials: a pair of camo boxing hand wraps — one for each hand. Print running the whole length, in pink camo or khaki camo. Soft cotton, light, hard-wearing and supple. Available in 3 or 5 metres / 118 or 197 in: the 5 m allows extra passes between the fingers and a better locked wrist. Absorbs sweat, machine washable. €19, free standard shipping.
Camo left the military behind a long time ago: it is now one of the most worn patterns in combat sports gyms. These wraps come in two versions — classic khaki, and a pink camo that is markedly rarer in boxing kit. The pair comes in 3 or 5 metres / 118 or 197 in.
3 or 5 metres: the choice that actually matters
These wraps come in two lengths, and it is not a cosmetic detail.
3 m / 118 in is the versatile length: enough for a classic wrist-and-metacarpal wrap on most hands. 5 m / 197 in adds material for passes between the fingers and extra turns at the wrist. Take it if you have large hands, if you hit heavy, or if you want maximum hold in sparring.
If you hesitate: take the 5 m. A wrap that is too long can be managed — you spread the surplus over extra turns. A wrap that is too short forces you to sacrifice either the fingers or the wrist.
A hand wrap, not an accessory
The design changes nothing about the function. These wraps work like any other: they bind the metacarpals so impact spreads across the whole hand, lock the wrist so it does not fold back on impact, and absorb sweat before it attacks the foam of your gloves.

Wrapping properly
- Thumb out, hand open while wrapping: wrap with a closed fist and everything tightens the moment you open the hand.
- Start at the wrist, work up over the metacarpals, then come back down to lock the wrist.
- Neither too tight nor too loose: you should be able to close the fist without discomfort and still feel your fingers. Pins and needles mean it is too tight.
- Air dry them after the session, never rolled up damp at the bottom of the bag.
- Wash them regularly in the machine, in a net so they do not tangle.

Frequently asked questions
3 or 5 metres, which length should I take?
3 m / 118 in covers a classic wrist-and-metacarpal wrap on most hands. 5 m / 197 in adds passes between the fingers and turns at the wrist: take it for large hands, heavy hitting or sparring. If in doubt, take the 5 m — surplus is spread over extra turns, whereas a short wrap forces you to give up either the fingers or the wrist.
Does the print affect the wrap's performance?
No. The print is on the surface of the cotton and changes nothing about the weave, the length or the hold.
What do hand wraps actually do?
Three things. They bind the metacarpals so impact spreads across the whole hand. They lock the wrist so it does not fold back on impact. And they absorb sweat, which markedly extends the life of the gloves. The glove cushions, the wrap holds: the two do different jobs.
How do you wash boxing hand wraps?
In the machine, ideally in a net so they do not tangle with the rest of the laundry. They air dry quickly. Avoid the tumble dryer, which tires the fibres and shortens the life of the wrap.
When should wraps be replaced?
As soon as they stretch and no longer hold their tension, or the hook-and-loop stops gripping firmly. A wrap that has lost its hold no longer protects the wrist, even if it looks intact. It is a consumable: better to keep several in rotation.
Which colourway for a club?
Khaki is the classic and goes with any kit. Pink camo is far less common in boxing gear, which makes it easy to tell pairs apart in a shared changing room.
