Canelo Face of Boxing tee

- Regular price€29,00

The essentials: « the face of boxing » is the fighter who carries the sport for the general public — an unofficial title, with no belt attached. This tee takes the phrase literally: the portrait is cut down the vertical, half a face only, facing the column of text. Premium cotton 180 gsm, crew neck, heat transfer print. 3 colourways, 7 sizes S to 4XL, €29, free shipping.
Half a face and a column of text.
The tee is built like a fight poster rather than a portrait — and it is the only one of the twelve to take its own slogan literally.
The face split in two
The cut is not a cropping accident, it is the design brief: the face gives up half the space to the words. On a message tee a whole portrait would fill the surface; here it shares the bill with what it stands for.
That places this model between two families: neither a slogan tee like Can't Be Stopped, nor a portrait tee like King Canelo. Both, in equal measure.
What the phrase means
« The face of boxing » describes the fighter who, in a given era, carries the sport for the general public. Not necessarily the best technician: the one whose name alone fills an arena and sells a fight to people who do not follow boxing the rest of the year.
It is an unofficial title, with no belt attached — which is exactly what makes it claimable on a t-shirt.
What it looks like on
The layout is horizontal: face on the left, text on the right, across the full width of the chest. It is the only one of the twelve Canelo models built on that axis — all the others stack vertically.
The portrait is cut clean along the vertical: only the left half of the face is printed, the cut running down the middle of the nose. Treated in two tones with no gradient — highlights in white, shadows, beard and hair in gold. The modelling comes from hard-edged blocks, not from shading.
On the right, a column running top to bottom: a row of stars, Canelo in large gold blackletter, alvarez in white lower case, a second row of stars, then THE FACE OF BOXING in gold capitals and #TEAM CANELO in white italic. At the bottom, a gold crest repeating the CA monogram on a laurel wreath.
The gold carries on all three dark grounds. Red is the most Mexican of the three, navy the most restrained, black the highest contrast.
Premium cotton, crew neck, short sleeves, straight cut. Plain back.
The detail that matters: the gold is not an accent, it is the structure of the artwork — it builds half the face and most of the text. Up close the result reads like a screen-printed poster: two tones, hard edges, no half-tones. That is what makes it legible at distance. For a genuine photographic portrait, see the King Canelo.
Three dark colourways, and there is a reason
Black, red, navy. The print works in gold and white: both need a dark ground to hold. On a light ground the white of the face would vanish and the gold would turn a dull yellow — hence no white or sand in the range.

Frequently asked questions
What does the face of boxing mean?
It describes the fighter who, in a given era, carries the sport for the general public: the one whose name sells an event even to people who do not follow boxing. The artwork takes the phrase literally by showing only half a face.
Why only half the face?
That is the heart of the design. The portrait is cut down the vertical, the cut running through the middle of the nose: only one half is printed, the other gives way to the column of text. On a message tee a whole face would take the entire space; here it shares the bill with what it stands for.
Which colourways are available?
Three: black, red and navy. The print combines gold and white, two colours that need a dark ground: on a light one the white of the face would disappear. Seven sizes per colourway, S to 4XL.
How does it differ from the King Canelo tee?
How the portrait is handled. Here, a half face in two tones of gold and white, with no gradient, beside a column of text. On the King Canelo, a photograph in selective desaturation, crown and belts left in colour. One is graphic, the other photographic.
Which size should I take?
Standard European cut: take your usual size. Seven sizes, S to 4XL, across all three colourways.
