The essentials: the line comes from Ali's speech before the George Foreman fight in Kinshasa, 1974 — the one where he says he wrestled with an alligator and handcuffed lightning. Here it runs in capitals over six lines, facing a face cut clean down the middle. Premium cotton 180 gsm in white, crew neck, heat transfer print. 7 sizes S to 4XL, €29, free shipping.
Half a face, half a sentence. The artwork is split down the vertical.
Where the line comes from
It was delivered in 1974, before the Rumble in the Jungle against George Foreman in Kinshasa. Ali was 32, written off, and he performed the routine to camera that everyone still quotes — wrestling with an alligator, tussling with a whale, handcuffing lightning and throwing thunder in jail. It ends: I'm going to show you how great I am.
Weeks later he knocked Foreman out in the eighth.
The line belongs to a family of declarations Ali had been building since his first fights. He was open about the method: « I said I was the greatest before I knew I was. I figured that if I said it enough, I would convince the world. »
What it looks like on
A composition in two halves, across the full width of the chest. On the left, Ali's face cut clean along the vertical axis, the cut running down the middle of the nose — one eye, one cheek, half a mouth. High-contrast black and white photographic treatment, no background.
On the right, the quote in heavy capitals over six lines: I AM / GONNA / SHOW / YOU / HOW GREAT / I AM. The first two lines are solid black, the following ones lighten progressively to a mid grey — the text seems to fade as it goes down.
On white the result is very graphic: two blocks meeting, with no frame and no divider.
Premium cotton in white, crew neck, short sleeves, straight cut. Plain back.

Frequently asked questions
When did Ali say I'm gonna show you how great I am?
In 1974, before the Rumble in the Jungle against George Foreman in Kinshasa. The line closes the routine in which he claims to have wrestled with an alligator, tussled with a whale, handcuffed lightning and thrown thunder in jail. He knocked Foreman out in the eighth.
What is the full alligator quote?
It runs through a string of boasts — wrestling with an alligator, tussling with a whale, handcuffing lightning, throwing thunder in jail — and lands on I'm going to show you how great I am. Only that last line is printed here, over six lines.
Why did Ali keep saying he was the greatest?
He explained it himself: he said he was the greatest before he knew he was, betting that saying it often enough would convince the world. His daughter Hana Ali records that the braggart persona came from watching the wrestler Gorgeous George work a crowd.
Why only half a face?
The portrait is cut clean along the vertical axis, the cut running down the middle of the nose: one eye, one cheek and half a mouth are left. The other half of the surface goes to the quote, which takes six lines — face and words at equal weight.
Does it come in big sizes?
Yes, up to 4XL: S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL and 4XL, all at the same price. Most boxing tees on the market stop at XXL.
Which size should I take?
Standard European cut: take your usual size. Chest runs from about 96 cm / 38 in on a S to 132 cm / 52 in on a 4XL. Wash at 30 °C / 86 °F inside out, with whites.
