Three letters standing in for a name
The mark printed here belongs to the American boxer Gervonta Davis: G, T and D for Gervonta Tank Davis, the nickname built into the monogram alongside the first and last name.
It has become common practice among leading fighters, and the commercial logic is precise: a monogram can be embroidered on a pair of shorts, stuck on a glove, printed on a beanie - a full name cannot. The mark becomes the sign, and is recognised without being read.
What is on the beanie
Black ground. The monogram takes almost the full height of the side, in angular interlocking letters: the G in green, the T in white cutting across on a diagonal, the D in red at the bottom right. The design continues round the back and over the lower part of the beanie.
At three metres you see a three-colour geometric block; at one metre the three letters separate.

The tip: the monogram taking the full height of the side, folding a cuff cuts off the red base. Worn loose, the three letters stay whole.

Frequently asked questions
What does GTD stand for?
Gervonta Tank Davis: the American boxer's monogram, nickname included.
Is the design printed on both sides?
The print covers the whole surface of the beanie, with the monogram on the side and carrying on round the back and over the lower part.
What size is a long beanie?
One size: the knit stretches both ways and absorbs the difference in head size. The guide is visual - the beanie should cover the top of the ears without squeezing the temples. Flat it measures 28 cm / 11 in tall by 26.8 cm / 10.6 in wide.
What is the difference between a long beanie and a turn-up beanie?
The long beanie, or slouchy, falls on the nape with no cuff and is worn loose: that is the cut of this model. The turn-up knit folds over and lays a double thickness of knit on the ears, for a height of 21.5 cm / 8.5 in once folded.
How do you wash a beanie without stretching it?
Hand wash cold, no spin, then dry flat. A beanie hung up or put through a tumble dryer stretches out and loses the hold that keeps it over the ears. Do not iron the print.
