The essentials: the lion logo of a house founded in London in 1960 in a boxing equipment shop, on a genuine women's cut — fitted, not a rebadged unisex, which most combat sports brands do not offer. Premium cotton 180 gsm, heat transfer print. 5 colourways, 7 sizes S to 4XL, €29, free shipping.
The Lonsdale lion is one of the few boxing logos you can wear in town without looking like you are in a sports jersey.
Here it is carried as it stands on a women's cut — not a unisex model made smaller.
Lonsdale, a brand born in a gym
The house takes its name from Hugh Lowther, fifth Earl of Lonsdale, a figure of early twentieth-century British sport and the first president of the British Boxing Board of Control. The Lonsdale Belts, the oldest championship belts still awarded in the United Kingdom, carry his name.
The clothing brand was founded in London in 1960, in a boxing equipment shop. It outfitted British gyms first, then spread well beyond the ring: through the 1970s and 1980s the lion logo became an emblem of British youth culture, worn far outside the sport.
That double status explains its longevity: a combat sports brand that became everyday clothing.
A women's cut, not a rebadged unisex
Crew neck, fitted cut, armholes and length built for a women's frame. It is a point most combat sports brands do not address: they offer a unisex from XS to XXL and call it a women's range.
The difference shows at the waist and across the shoulders, where a men's tee in a S hangs straight and floats.
What it looks like on
The lion takes the top of the artwork, in profile. Beneath it, LONSDALE in large slightly arched serif capitals, then a curved bar and LONDON in small capitals.
The whole thing is single-ink white, centred on the chest, plain back. That is what makes it easy to pair: one print colour, which sits right on all five shades.
Premium cotton, short sleeves.
Five colourways
| Colourway | What it gives |
|---|---|
| Black | Maximum contrast, closest to the original logo |
| Navy | Same legibility, a softer ground |
| Dark grey | The quietest of the dark grounds |
| Red | The boldest, with the white logo standing well clear |
| Pink | The only light colourway, a gentler result |
The detail that matters: the print is applied by heat transfer onto a PET film. That is decisive on this logo: the lion's mane and the fine serifs of the lettering keep their outlines rather than closing up. The print stands up to wear and does not fade easily in the wash. Care: machine wash at 30 °C / 86 °F inside out, no fabric softener, no tumble dryer, do not iron the print.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a true women's cut?
Yes: a fitted cut with a crew neck, with armholes and a length built for a women's frame. It is not a rebadged unisex — the difference shows at the waist and across the shoulders.
Does it come in big sizes?
Yes, up to 4XL: S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL and 4XL, in all five colourways at the same price. Very few women's tees in combat sports go that far.
Which colourways are available?
Five: black, navy, dark grey, red and pink. The logo is printed in white on all of them, which is what makes the tee easy to pair.
How does it differ from the unisex Lonsdale tee?
The cut. This one is fitted, in five colourways. The unisex model is a straight cut with a wider choice of shades and two logo versions.
Which size should I take?
Standard European cut: take your usual size. Chest runs from about 88 cm / 35 in on a S to 124 cm / 49 in on a 4XL.
