Rival t-shirt

The essentials: the Canadian equipment maker built on a then-minority idea — a glove should not do everything: sparring, bag work and competition make contradictory demands. This tee carries the Rival emblem and its line TECHNICAL BOXING GEAR. Premium cotton 180 gsm, heat transfer print. 2 colourways, 7 sizes S to 4XL, €29, free shipping.
Like the Winning tee, this one carries no fighter, no film and no slogan. It carries an equipment brand — and in a gym, that is a sign people read without comment.
A brand born from a disagreement about gloves
Rival is a Canadian equipment maker, founded in Montreal in the early 2000s. Its reason for existing sits in its strapline: Technical Boxing Gear.
The starting idea was simple and, at the time, a minority view: a glove should not do everything. A sparring glove has to protect your partner; a bag glove has to protect the hands of the person hitting; a competition glove has to transmit. Those three aims contradict each other, and a single range forces a compromise.
So Rival built separate series, identified by codes rather than marketing names. That is what earned it its standing with coaches, and what the word technical in the logo sums up.
The word rival, turned into an image
The emblem is symmetrical and split in two: two angled white shapes facing each other, joined at the centre by an orange R.
Two halves squaring up, separated by a single letter: it is literally the word rival turned into a sign. Few equipment logos state their own name that directly.
What it looks like on
The logo forms a compact centred block high on the chest, and the rest of the tee stays bare. On navy as on black, the white stands clear.
The orange covers only a tiny area — the central R of the emblem: from a distance the logo reads as a white sign, and the colour only appears as you get closer. That balance is what makes it, alongside the Winning tee, the most understated and wearable model in the collection.
Premium cotton, crew neck, short sleeves, straight cut. Plain back.
The detail that matters: the print is applied by heat transfer onto a PET film. That is decisive here: the emblem rests on hard angles and perfect symmetry, and the TECHNICAL BOXING GEAR line is set in very small capitals — two demands the process holds in the same print. It stands up to wear and does not fade easily in the wash. Care: machine wash at 30 °C / 86 °F inside out, no fabric softener, no tumble dryer, do not iron the print.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between sparring, bag and competition gloves?
Three contradictory aims. A sparring glove has to protect your partner; a bag glove has to protect the hands of the person hitting; a competition glove has to transmit. It is the idea Rival was built on, and why it makes separate series.
Where is Rival from?
Canada — founded in Montreal in the early 2000s. Its ranges are identified by codes rather than marketing names, which is part of what earned it its standing with coaches.
What does the Rival emblem represent?
Two angled white shapes facing each other, joined at the centre by an orange R. Two halves squaring up, separated by a single letter — the word rival turned into a sign.
What does Technical Boxing Gear mean?
It is the brand's strapline, and it states its position: equipment built for one job at a time rather than a single range covering everything. The line is printed in very small capitals under the emblem.
Which colourways are available?
Two: navy and black. Both are dark grounds, which is what the white of the emblem needs. Seven sizes per colourway, S to 4XL.
Which size should I take?
Standard European cut: take your usual size. Chest runs from about 96 cm / 38 in on a S to 132 cm / 52 in on a 4XL.
