The essentials: 1976 is the year of the first film, the one written by an unknown actor and crowned with Best Picture. Premium cotton 180 gsm, crew neck, heat transfer print. 9 colourways, 7 sizes S to 4XL, €29, free shipping.
The idea: treat a fictional character like a real boxing gym, with a founding year.
1976, the year of the first film
Rocky was released in 1976. The screenplay was written by Sylvester Stallone, then an unknown actor, who refused to sell it unless he played the lead. It was shot on a small budget in under a month.
It took more than a hundred times its cost at the box office, won Best Picture — against Taxi Driver and Network — and launched a run of nine films, spin-offs included.
Which is why the date works as a founding: everything that follows comes out of it.
What it looks like on
The artwork is a circular crest centred on the chest, in a single colour.
ROCKY in capitals follows the top curve, BALBOA the bottom one. At the centre, a round medallion holding a pair of gloves hanging by their laces, ringed by stars and the words BOXING CLUB in an arc.
Either side of the medallion, two rectangular tabs carrying 19 on the left and 76 on the right — the date split in two by the crest.
The print is a solid flat, with no texture and no gradient: it works on all nine grounds.
Premium cotton, crew neck, short sleeves, straight cut. Plain back.

Frequently asked questions
What does the 1976 date mean?
The release year of the first Rocky film. Written by Sylvester Stallone when he was unknown and shot on a small budget, it won Best Picture and launched a run of nine films. The crest treats it as a club founding date.
Is the Rocky Balboa Boxing Club a real gym?
No: it is an imaginary club, built for the artwork. The idea is to treat a fictional character like a real boxing gym, with a crest and a founding year.
Which colourways are available?
Nine: white, black, charcoal grey, sky blue, navy, teal, sage green, yellow and pink. Because the print is a single flat ink, it works on every ground. Seven sizes per colourway, S to 4XL.
Is there a portrait on this t-shirt?
No: it is a crest, with no face. For artwork with the character, see the portrait tee or the training tee.
Does it come in big sizes?
Yes, up to 4XL: S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL and 4XL, in all nine colourways at the same price. Most boxing tees on the market stop at XXL.
Which size should I take?
Standard European cut: take your usual size. Chest runs from about 96 cm / 38 in on a S to 132 cm / 52 in on a 4XL.
