The essentials: a compression rash guard, printed by all-over sublimation — the design goes into the fibre and cannot crack or peel. Snake head artwork with fangs out on a honeycomb ground. 6 designs to choose from. 3 sizes, L to XXL, €29, free shipping.
A ground-work garment, not a t-shirt. The printing is done by sublimation: the ink enters the polyester fibre instead of sitting on top of it, so the design covers the whole torso with no thickness under the hand — nothing to catch during a grip, and nothing that can crack. 6 designs to choose from, L to XXL.
What a rash guard is for
The name comes from rash. On the ground the skin rubs against the mat, against the opponent, against the grips.
A rash guard settles three things at once:
- It protects the skin from mat burn and abrasion
- It wicks sweat and dries fast
- It gives the opponent nothing to grip, unlike a loose t-shirt
Compression supports the muscles under effort and limits vibration on impact.
Sublimation
This model is not printed on top of the fabric: under heat the ink enters the polyester fibre and fixes there permanently.
On a ground-work garment that matters:
- No thickness under the hand — nothing to catch during a grip
- The design does not crack and does not peel, because there is nothing to peel
- The fabric stays breathable across its whole surface, where a printed block would form a sealed area
It is the technique used on sports jerseys, and it requires polyester: sublimation does not take on cotton.
What it looks like on
The cut — close to the body, short sleeves, raglan shoulder seams following the line of the arm.
The Snake artwork — a stylised viper head occupies the centre of the chest: narrowed eyes, four fangs extended downwards. A vertical band runs through it from top to bottom.
The ground — a printed honeycomb texture running across the torso. The sleeves stay plain.
Six designs are offered in the selector, several of them colour variations of the central band.
Good to know — this rash guard is a compression garment: it is worn tight, which is what lets it do its job. It runs from L to XXL. For a loose cotton top, see our t-shirts, available up to 4XL.
Six designs
| Design | How it reads |
|---|---|
| Red snake | Red central band, the sharpest contrast of the six |
| Green snake | Green band, darker register |
| Grey snake | Tone on tone, grey on grey |
| Black | Plain, no snake artwork |
| Black and yellow | Hard contrast |
| Grey camouflage | Military texture across the whole garment |

Frequently asked questions
Rash guard or t-shirt for MMA?
Rash guard as soon as there is ground work. A loose t-shirt gets gripped, rides up and gives the opponent something to hold; compression mesh stays flat and limits friction on the mat. A t-shirt is fine for striking, bag work and cardio.
What is a rash guard for?
To protect the skin from friction on the ground — the name comes from rash. It prevents mat burn, wicks sweat and gives the opponent nothing to grip. It also limits direct skin contact, which federations recommend on hygiene grounds.
Which disciplines is it for?
Any that involve ground work: MMA, grappling, no-gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling. It also works as a base layer for boxing and cardio.
How do I care for it?
Machine at 30 °C / 86 °F, no fabric softener — it clogs the fibres and kills the wicking — no tumble dryer and no ironing. The ink being in the fibre, the design does not suffer in the wash.
