Between 2017 and 2022, Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin met three times. A draw in September 2017, a majority decision in September 2018, a points win in September 2022: thirty-six rounds in all, and neither man ever put on the floor. Few modern trilogies have run that close.
This is the one Canelo cap that works in pink: black lettering doubled with a pink rule, where the rest of the family stays with white, gold or the colours of the flag.
What the lettering gives you
CANELO is printed in heavy black capitals, framed by double pink rules above and below the word. The CA monogram, in pink, sits beneath the lettering. On the light colourways the black carries the reading; on the dark ones it is the pink rules and the monogram that come forward.
Cut and adjustment
Pre-formed curved peak, soft 9 cm / 3.5 in crown, rear adjuster strap. The measurement table shared by every curved peak cap sits on the Canelo washed cap listing.
Technical specifications
Worth knowing
Pink appears on this listing alone in the Canelo range. It is also the only one pairing two marking colours on solid lettering, which is what keeps it readable on light and dark grounds alike.
Worth a look
The Team Canelo cap carries the name in full across twelve colourways. The Canelo tricolour cap moves to the colours of Mexico, and the Canelo crown cap adds a gold crown above the monogram. Everything sits in the boxing caps collection.
Frequently asked questions
How many times did Canelo fight Golovkin?
Three: a draw in September 2017, a majority decision win in September 2018, and a points win in September 2022. Thirty-six rounds in total, with neither man going down.
What size boxing cap should I get?
The rear strap covers 55–59 cm / 21.7–23.2 in. Measure with a tape about 1 cm / 0.4 in above the eyebrows, around the back of the skull over the bump, without pulling tight.
Is this cap suitable for women?
Yes. The 55–59 cm / 21.7–23.2 in range covers most adult head sizes and the cut carries no gendered shaping. The pink rules in the lettering and the pink colourway are often chosen for that reason.
Why is Saúl Alvarez called Canelo?
Canelo means cinnamon in Mexican Spanish and is used informally for a redhead. The nickname came from his hair, long before his professional career, which began at fifteen in October 2005.
How do you clean a white printed cap?
By hand, lukewarm water at 30 °C / 86 °F maximum, mild soap with no bleaching agent that would yellow the fibres. Brush the inner sweatband gently, dab the lettering, and dry in the open air over something round.
