Sugar Ray Robinson gave his name to a phrase everyone uses without knowing where it came from. In the 1940s, writers looking for a way to measure him against heavier men coined pound for pound. Robinson finished on 173 wins and six world titles, and the phrase outlived him.
This cap applies the same idea to a wardrobe: a raised gold crown on a honeycomb-textured cap with a leather-look peak.
What the crown gives you
The crown is not embroidered but applied: a gold metal piece, closed and topped with a cross, set with clear stones across the band and over the arches. It shows in relief from the front and in profile, standing several millimetres proud of the cloth. The cap carries a honeycomb texture, regular cells in light relief, and the peak is a smooth fine-grain material.

Because the crown is an applied piece, it does not wash like embroidery: wipe around it with a damp cloth without soaking the cap, and store it crown upwards so nothing presses on the appliqué.
Worth a look
The VIP gold cap carries the material across the whole cap with metal lettering. The Rocky leather-look cap stays smooth and plain, and the TMT black and gold cap works gold as embroidery instead. Everything sits in the boxing caps collection.
Frequently asked questions
What does pound-for-pound mean in boxing?
At equal weight. The phrase was coined in the 1940s to compare Sugar Ray Robinson with fighters from heavier divisions. It is used today to rank the best boxers regardless of weight class.
What size cap should I get?
The snap closure covers 55–59 cm / 21.7–23.2 in. Measure with a tape about 1 cm / 0.4 in above the eyebrows, around the back of the skull over the bump, without pulling tight.
Can the crown come off?
It is fixed to the front panel and holds through normal wear. Avoid soaking, spinning and storing it under a pile of clothes: those are the three situations where an appliqué takes strain. Clean with a damp cloth around the piece.
Which colourway should I pick?
The gold reads on all five grounds, but black and navy give the sharpest contrast. Burgundy and red make a warmer pairing with the gold, blue a cooler one.
Are the stones real?
No. They are clear glass stones set into the metal piece, chosen to catch light rather than for any value of their own. That is what keeps a cap with this much presence at this price.
