The essentials: full coverage boxing headgear in thick PU leather, with a head size adjusted by two wide hook-and-loop straps across the crown. Cheeks and jaw wrapped, independent padded ear cups, a wide face opening, and a breathable mesh lining. Single density padding, sized for training and light sparring. 4 colourways: red, black and white, blue, orange. 3 sizes: S, M, L. €45, free standard delivery.
Most headguards in this range tighten one way only: a hook-and-loop tab at the back, and that is it. This one adds two wide straps across the crown, which change how deeply it sits. The practical consequence: one size covers a far wider spread of head shapes, and the headguard genuinely adjusts to the head wearing it instead of merely staying on.
Adjustment where it counts
Headgear only protects if it does not move. The two crown straps act on the seating height: tightened, they lift the headguard and place the forehead roll above the eyebrows; loosened, they let it drop. That adjustment is what decides where the face opening sits in front of your eyes, and therefore what you see coming.
The rear hook-and-loop with its tightening buckle then closes everything at the nape. Always adjust in that order: the crown first, the rear second. Then shake your head firmly: if the opening stays lined up with your eyes, you are set.
Ears protected separately
The ears are not simply covered by the shell running past them: they have independent padded cups, held by a strap, that follow the shape of the ear without crushing it. That is a genuine technical point at this level. The ear is where a poorly absorbed hook does the most lasting damage, cauliflower ear being a cumulative and irreversible injury: protecting it from the first years of practice is what costs the least.
Light sparring: who it is for
This is an intermediate headguard and we say so: the padding is single density, not multi-layer. The foam volume is generous and the coverage wide, which suits training, technical work and light sparring, where the touches are controlled.
For sustained, repeated sparring, with partners who really hit, what you need is stacked density padding: the firm outer layer spreads the impact, the inner layers dissipate the rest. That is where the leather models in the range take over. Saying otherwise would be selling you headgear for a use it does not have.
Choosing your size
Measure your head circumference with a tape, around 2 cm / 0.8 in above the eyebrows and across the widest point at the back of the skull, then check the size guide for the range. The crown straps widen the usable range of each size, which makes this model more forgiving than headgear adjusted only at the rear, but they do not bridge two sizes: between two, take the smaller.

Worth knowing: headgear sharply reduces cuts and bruising but does not remove the risk of concussion, and no headgear does. This is an intermediate model with single density padding, built for training and light sparring: if you are stringing rounds together with partners who hit hard, you need multi-layer padding. The shell is PU leather, not animal hide. And the wide face opening leaves the nose exposed: to protect it, you need a face bar model.

Frequently asked questions
What does adjustable head size mean on headgear?
This model has two wide hook-and-loop straps across the crown, on top of the rear closure. They change the seating height, and therefore the position of the forehead roll and of the face opening in front of your eyes. One size then covers a wider spread of head shapes than headgear adjusted only at the rear. Always set the crown first, the rear second.
What is light sparring, and why the limit?
Light sparring means opposition where the touches are controlled, without looking for power. The single density padding of this headguard is sized for that and for technical training. In sustained sparring, stacked density foam absorbs better and keeps its properties longer: the leather models in the range are made for that.
How does it differ from the other PU headguard at the same price?
Both share the same range, PU leather and single density padding, but not the same audience. This one is adult headgear, whose strengths are the adjustable head size and the independent ear cups. The other model has a size scale going below 47 cm / 18.5 in of head circumference: that is the headguard for boxing schools and children. Choose according to the head you are fitting.
Do the ear cups prevent cauliflower ear?
They clearly reduce the risk by absorbing hooks and following the shape of the ear without crushing it. Since the injury is cumulative and irreversible, every impact avoided counts, and protecting the ear from the first years of practice is the best investment. No headgear removes it entirely, particularly in grappling where friction counts as much as impact.
Does the mesh lining make a difference?
Yes, on two counts. It lets air move through headgear that wraps the head and naturally holds heat, and it dries markedly faster than a solid lining, which limits odours. That is particularly useful on club equipment passing between several boxers.
How do you look after PU leather headgear?
A damp cloth or an alcohol-free disinfectant wipe is enough, and above all no oily products: PU does not need feeding, unlike animal hide. Air dry, never on a radiator or shut inside a bag. Check the grip of the hook-and-loop regularly: it is the first part to tire on this type of headgear.
