Vented boxing headgear

- Regular price€49,00

The essentials: boxing headgear whose outer shell is entirely 3D mesh, rather than simply lined with mesh as almost every headguard on the market is. Quilted yellow inner padding, pierced with oval vents at the cheeks. Open cut: cheeks and ears protected, chin free. Crossed straps over the crown and a wide rear hook-and-loop. 2 sizes: S/M and L/XL. 2 colourways: black, grey. €49, free standard delivery.
This is the headguard to take when sweat is the real problem: long sessions, an overheated gym, rounds strung together. Almost its entire outer surface is mesh, which lets air pass through the headguard instead of holding it against the skull. It is markedly lighter and cooler than a leather or PU shell, and it dries fast.
The mesh is on the outside, not just in the lining
Most headguards sold as breathable are solid shell models, in leather or PU, into which a mesh lining has been slipped or a few vents punched. Little air moves: the shell stays sealed. Here the logic is reversed. The shell itself is mesh, from forehead to nape, and only the crown band and the cheek reinforcements are solid synthetic. Heat escapes across the whole surface of the headguard, not through two holes.
Padding pierced with vents
Inside, the quilted yellow padding is perforated too: two oval openings are cut into each cheek pad. Sweat therefore does not sit between the foam and the skin, and the padding dries between sessions instead of staying damp at the bottom of a bag. It is a detail no competing page mentions, and it is the one that makes the difference in use.
An open cut, built for mobility
The headguard protects the skull, the ears and the cheeks, but leaves the chin and the field of vision entirely free. That cut suits disciplines where the head moves a lot and where you go from standing to the ground: technical training, grappling, MMA introduction, feel work. With the ears covered, the repeated friction of close work is absorbed.
Adjustment and hold
Two black straps cross over the crown and set the seating height, while a wide hook-and-loop band closes the rear and sets the head size. The headguard goes on in seconds, with no lacing, and is readjusted between rounds one-handed.
S/M or L/XL: how to choose
This model comes in two sizes, marked on the sewn label of the rear strap. Measure your head circumference with a tape, 2 cm / 0.8 in above the eyebrows and across the widest point at the back of the skull, then check the size guide for the range. In practice, S/M covers head circumferences up to around 57 cm / 22.4 in and L/XL above that. The strap system and the rear hook-and-loop give a comfortable margin if you are right on the border.

Worth knowing: this mesh shell is sized for ventilation and lightness, over long sessions and technical work. For absorption against heavy impacts in hard sparring, solid shells do that job: the full coverage headguard up to XL or the full face real leather headgear. The chin is not covered: there is no chin guard on this model. This format is not approved for competition. And the mesh takes on a visible patina with use: a wipe with a damp cloth after each session keeps it clean.

Frequently asked questions
Which boxing headgear should you choose if you sweat a lot?
Look for a shell that is genuinely open, not just a mesh lining. On most headguards the outer shell stays solid and little air moves. Headgear with a 3D mesh outer shell, and padding that is itself pierced with vents, releases heat across its whole surface and dries between sessions.
Mesh or leather: which shell for which use?
Each is sized for a use. Mesh is lighter and far better ventilated: it is the shell for technical training, long sessions and warm gyms. A solid leather or PU shell brings the absorption for heavy impacts: that is the one for hard sparring.
S/M or L/XL: which size should I take?
Measure your head circumference 2 cm / 0.8 in above the eyebrows. S/M covers up to around 57 cm / 22.4 in, L/XL above that. The crossed straps and the rear hook-and-loop give enough adjustment if you are on the border. The size is marked on the label of the rear strap.
Does this headgear protect the chin?
No. The cheeks and ears are padded, but the chin stays free and there is no chin guard. To cover the lower face, you need a full coverage headguard from the range.
Is it suitable for grappling and MMA?
Its open cut and light weight suit disciplines where the head moves a lot and where you go from standing to the ground. The ears are protected, which limits the friction responsible for cauliflower ear. For intense striking, a solid shell model remains the better fit.
How do you clean mesh boxing headgear?
Wipe the mesh and the padding with a damp cloth after each session, without soaking, then let it air dry. Never store it damp in a closed bag, and keep it away from radiators and direct sun, which stiffen the mesh. The vents in the padding speed the drying up considerably.
