Most reflex balls tell you a colour. This one tells you a weight. It is the only figure that really sets the speed of the return, and so the difficulty of the drill — and it is what lets you choose without guessing.
Three levels, three weights
The weight of the ball and the thickness of the cord move together. The heavier the ball and the thicker the cord, the faster and sharper the return.

How to choose: start with the novice 22 g / 0.8 oz if the drill is new to you or the ball is for a child. The veteran 25 g / 0.9 oz suits you as soon as you can string a minute together without a miss on both hands. The boxer 40 g / 1.4 oz is for regular practitioners: at that weight, a late reaction cannot be recovered.
A spare cord matched to the level
The cord is the one genuine wearing part on a reflex ball: it takes every strike, stretches, then goes at the knot or at the attachment point.
Every set comes with a replacement cord, and its thickness matches the level chosen. That matters: fitting a thin cord to a 40 g / 1.4 oz ball changes the rebound behaviour completely. Here, the replacement restores exactly the original feel.
The spring clip
The headband does not carry a plain sewn loop but a spring clip. You take the ball off and put it back one-handed, without undoing a knot.

Start with the lightest ball. At 40 g / 1.4 oz the ball comes back fast and hits sharply: that is the level that follows, once the movement is in place. The 22 and 25 g / 0.8 and 0.9 oz are there to build the coordination first.
