In short: Breathable mesh sports shorts with two zipped pockets and a basketball cut. For strength work, running and the warm-up — not for the ring. 7 colourways, 8 sizes, XS to 4XL. €39.
Why a sports short and not a fight short
A boxer does not spend all week in the ring. Strength work, running, rope and warm-ups make up a good part of the weekly volume, and those sessions do not call for the same kit.
A fight short has no pockets, for an obvious safety reason: a finger or a toe can catch in one during grappling. Off the mat that constraint disappears, and pockets become the single most useful feature a short can have.
What the shorts look like
Seven colourways. The body is open mesh with a regular texture. Two side pockets with zip closures, an elastic waistband with a visible drawcord, and contrast bands at the hem. The Lonsdale logo and its lion sit on the left thigh. Matt finish.
Zipped rather than open pockets
An open pocket empties itself the moment you lie down on a bench or bend over a kettlebell. A zip removes the problem entirely, which is why it is worth paying attention to on a short meant for the weights room.
The open mesh does the other half of the job: it moves air through the fabric on indoor sessions where there is no draught.

Getting the size right
European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes, XS to 4XL, where most of the market stops at XXL. Mesh is more forgiving than satin: it follows the movement without needing to be sized up. Between two sizes, take the larger.
Also worth a look
- Camo cargo shorts — cargo shorts with flap thigh pockets, if you want the everyday piece.
- Sports three quarter pants — cuffed three quarter pants, if you want the legs covered.
- 2 in 1 sports shorts — a 2-in-1 short with a compression liner, if you run rather than lift.
- To complete the kit: boxing t-shirts and boxing hoodies.
- To gear up: boxing gloves, mouthguards and hand wraps.

Frequently asked questions
Are these suitable for boxing?
For conditioning, running and the warm-up, yes. Not for sparring or ground work: a short with pockets is a safety issue once someone can catch a finger or a toe in one. For the ring you want a fight short or a Thai short.
Do they have pockets?
Two side pockets with zip closures, which is the point of the model. Nothing falls out on a bench or under a bar, where an open pocket empties itself.
Do these fit true to size?
Yes. European cut — take your usual size. Mesh is more forgiving than satin. Between two sizes, take the larger.
What colours are available?
Seven colourways, all with the same open mesh body, zipped pockets and contrast bands at the hem.
