Lonsdale three quarter pants

In short: Three quarter jogging pants with a cuffed hem, drawcord and pockets. The warm-up and mid-season piece, for when a short is too short and trousers are too warm. 4 colourways. 8 sizes, XS to 4XL. €29.
The warm-up, the part of training everyone skips
A boxing session does not start at the bag. It starts with fifteen to twenty minutes of getting going — rope, mobility, footwork — whose job is to raise muscle temperature before the hard efforts.
During that phase it is better to have the legs covered than bare. Warm muscle is more elastic and less exposed to a pull, and a cuffed three quarter leg keeps the calf and the knee covered without the bulk of full-length trousers.
What the shorts look like
Four colourways: white, black, red and grey. The leg stops below the knee and finishes in a ribbed cuff. The waistband is elastic with a visible drawcord, in a contrast colour on some models. Two side pockets. The Lonsdale logo and its lion sit on the left thigh. Matt finish.
Why cuffed rather than open
An open hem catches on a heel during rope work and rides up when you sit down between rounds. A ribbed cuff holds the fabric at the calf, which is why the shape has stayed on training kit while the rest of the garment has changed.
It also means the leg does not drag on the floor, which matters in a gym where the floor is not always clean.

Worth knowing: pockets are the reason this stays in the bag: you can carry a phone and keys through a warm-up, which a fight short cannot do.
Getting the size right
European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes, XS to 4XL, where most of the market stops at XXL. The leg stops below the knee and the length follows the size, so the cut holds from XS to 4XL. The elastic waistband absorbs a change in waist measurement; between two sizes, take the larger.

Frequently asked questions
Why wear three quarter pants for the warm-up?
To keep the legs covered while muscle temperature rises. Warm muscle is more elastic and less exposed to a pull, and a cuffed three quarter leg does that without the bulk of full-length trousers.
What is the difference with a long short?
The cuff. A long short has an open hem that catches on a heel during rope work and rides up when you sit; a ribbed cuff holds the fabric at the calf. The three quarter length also covers the knee.
Do these fit true to size?
Yes. European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes run XS to 4XL. Between two sizes, take the larger.
What colours are available?
Four: white, black, red and grey, all with the same cuffed leg and drawcord waistband.
