Two belts at once, a first
On 12 November 2016, at Madison Square Garden, McGregor beat Eddie Alvarez and took the lightweight title. He already held the featherweight belt: he became the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles in different weight classes at the same time.
The night mattered for another reason: it was the first UFC card held in New York State, where professional MMA had been banned for twenty-two years until the ban was lifted in 2016. He gave up the featherweight belt a few weeks later, the organisation not allowing a double hold to run. Nobody has done the double since.
What you see
Portrait format, built as a painted collage. The head and shoulders portrait fills the upper left, beard and hair worked in ochre strokes, eyes towards the camera. Around it, three smaller fight scenes are set into the paint: a fighter with arms raised, a standing exchange, a figure on the floor.
The ground mixes dark red, forest green and ochre with vertical runs. Down the sides, handwritten lettering in yellow and white capitals: two champion, hard work, greatness, family, sacrifice, passion, focus, winner. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a face in a mass of red; from 1 m / 3 ft the three scenes separate.

Worth knowing: several scenes on one canvas make it a piece that keeps giving up detail after weeks on the wall, which is what it is for in a room where people sit. From 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in the three scenes read from a sofa. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
Four planes on one canvas
The portrait carries from a distance; the three inset fight scenes are each about a fifth of the height. Below 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in they read as patches of colour; from 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in they separate from a sofa and the side lettering becomes legible. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
Who held two UFC belts at the same time?
Conor McGregor, from 12 November 2016, after beating Eddie Alvarez at Madison Square Garden while still featherweight champion. He is the only fighter to have done it, and gave up one belt weeks later.
How many scenes are on this canvas?
Four: the head and shoulders portrait in the upper part, then three inset fight scenes — a fighter with arms raised top right, a standing exchange on the left, a figure on the floor bottom right. They separate from 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
What wall colour does this canvas work against?
A pale or warm wall — white, beige, brick — where the dark red and ochre carry. On a green or dark wall the ground of the canvas merges into the paint.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
