Thirteen seconds to take a belt
On 12 December 2015, in Las Vegas, McGregor fought José Aldo for the UFC featherweight title. Aldo had been unbeaten for ten years, over eighteen fights.
It lasted thirteen seconds. Aldo came forward, McGregor stepped back and landed a left counter on the jaw. It is the fastest finish in UFC championship history, and the record still stands. Thirteen seconds that account for half his fame — and for all of the graffiti painted on this canvas.
What you see
Portrait format, the whole surface covered. The fighter holds the centre, framed from the shoulders up, his right hand brought up to his mouth, a cigar held between thumb and forefinger, full beard, eyes fixed ahead. A black strapped watch shows at the wrist, and the forearm is covered in multicoloured handwritten lettering. The portrait is treated in black and white like a stencil, cut out against the ground.
The ground layers red, blue, yellow and purple flat colour under a pile-up of lettering: his nickname in large capitals across the top, his name tagged on the left, the letters MMA and UFC on the right, crowns and paint runs, plus four lines of small blue capitals down the right side. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a pale face on a mass of colour; from 1 m / 3 ft each word becomes readable.

Worth knowing: the subject is black and white and all the colour comes from the ground, so the canvas sets the tone of a room without imposing a coloured portrait. In a bedroom or a plain living room, 70 × 100 cm / 28 × 39 in is the balance point. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
A pale stencil on a busy ground
The contrast between the black and white portrait and the saturated ground keeps the face legible from 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in upwards. It is the lettering — the nickname in large capitals, the initials, the four lines on the right — that needs 70 × 100 cm / 28 × 39 in to separate. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
What is the fastest finish in a UFC title fight?
Thirteen seconds: McGregor against José Aldo on 12 December 2015 in Las Vegas. Aldo had been unbeaten for ten years over eighteen fights. The record still stands.
What words are on this canvas?
His nickname the Notorious in very large capitals across the top, his name tagged on the left, the letters MMA and UFC on the right, the word money and repeated crowns, plus four lines of small blue capitals down the right side.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
Is this canvas suitable for a teenage room?
It is one of the usual choices: full colour on the ground, a black and white portrait, no fight scene and no injury shown. 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in suits a desk wall, 70 × 100 cm / 28 × 39 in a bed wall.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
