Hanging up the gloves: the phrase comes from the changing room
Gloves on a hook are not a graphic designer's invention. Hanging up the gloves is the set phrase for a boxer ending his career, and it comes from a real gesture: in gyms, each fighter hung his pair on a peg in the changing room between sessions. The man who did not come back left his gloves on the wall.
The expression left boxing to describe the end of any career, in every language the sport reached. It remains one of the few everyday phrases to come straight out of a boxing changing room. On this canvas the gloves are hung up, and the line beside them says the opposite: keep moving forward.

The first three lines set the size
The closing line in large capitals reads from a distance at any size; it is the three lines of small type above it that decide. They read at two metres from 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in, and from a sofa at 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.
