The essentials: a poster on a white ground: the title in very large black capitals, the quote across six lines, and below it a figure in the Rocky Balboa style, seen from behind, fist raised at the top of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps, in the snow. 10 sizes from 20 × 30 cm / 8 × 12 in to 110 × 160 cm / 43 × 63 in. Frame sold separately. From €19 to €109 depending on size, free standard shipping.
A line from 2006, not from 1976
The quote printed on this poster is not from the first film. It is spoken thirty years later, in the sixth instalment released in 2006, by a retired fighter talking to his grown son on a pavement.
What it says about a ring is plain and testable: what separates two boxers is not punching power but the capacity to take punishment and keep coming. Championship punch statistics bear it out — the winner is usually the man who lands most often while staying upright, not the one who lands hardest. That is why the passage has become the most quoted line of the whole series, well ahead of anything in the first film.
What you see
Portrait format, white ground, with a thin printed black border. The title fills the top in very heavy black capitals, ranged left. Below it, on the right, the quote in six lines of small black type, in quotation marks.
The lower half carries a desaturated photograph: a figure seen from behind, dark beanie and tracksuit, right arm raised, fist closed. He stands at the top of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps, the view dropping down the snow-covered Benjamin Franklin Parkway, bare trees and lit street lamps either side. The steps themselves stay out of frame: it is the viewpoint that places them. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a title and a figure; from 1 m / 3 ft all six lines can be read.

Worth knowing: a text canvas is read, so it belongs where people stop — a desk, a landing, the wall facing a sofa. From 40 × 60 cm / 16 × 24 in the six lines read without effort at two metres. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
The size at which the quote can be read
Six lines of small type sit in the upper quarter of the canvas, and it is the text rather than the figure that sets the minimum. It reads at two metres from 40 × 60 cm / 16 × 24 in, and from a sofa at 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
What is the quote on this Rocky canvas?
It ain't about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward — six lines of small type under the title. It is spoken in the 2006 film, not the 1976 one.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
Where was this photograph taken?
At the top of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps in the snow, looking down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The 72 steps have been a fixture for visitors since the 1976 film; the statue Stallone commissioned in 1980 has stood at their foot since 2006, but it does not appear on this canvas. The quote itself comes from the sixth film, released in 2006.
What size keeps the quote readable?
From 40 × 60 cm / 16 × 24 in the six lines read at two metres; from 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in they read from a sofa. Below 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in the text works as a grey block.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
