The gym that has seen more than 130 world champions
Gleason's Gym opened in New York in
1937. Muhammad Ali, Jake LaMotta, Roberto Durán and Mike Tyson all worked there; the gym claims more than
130 world champions through its rings. On its wall hangs a line of Virgil in Latin, which boxers read on their way up the stairs. That culture — the club as a second home — is what the
Boxing Club banner stands for.
What the visual shows
A boxer in three-quarter view, torso and arms, in a high guard, gloved fists brought in front of the face, eyes forward. The drawing is engraved in fine lines: muscles, glove stitching and wrist strap. Below the figure, a slanted banner carries BOXING CLUB in outlined capitals. The whole panel is set into a round black base with a touch surface.
Power and settings
USB cable supplied or
3 AA batteries, not supplied, with settings by successive taps on the touch base. The table of
two power options sets out what each involves, and the one thing to do before the first switch-on.
Technical specifications
Good to know. It ships with a remote: the colour changes without getting up, which counts when the lamp sits high on a shelf or behind a screen.

Frequently asked questions
How does an acrylic 3D lamp work?
The panel is laser engraved through its thickness, then lit from the edge by the base. Only the engraved lines light up; the rest of the panel stays clear, so the drawing appears to float above the base.
Is the remote supplied?
Yes, it is included. It handles switching and colour changes from a distance. The touch base still works alongside it.
What is a high guard?
A stance with both fists brought up to jaw height, elbows tight against the ribs. It protects the two most decisive targets, chin and liver, at the cost of a narrower field of vision. That is the guard engraved on this panel.
Can it sit on a desk?
Yes, the base is stable and the lamp does not heat up. For desk use, powering it by USB cable from the computer port saves a wall socket.
How does it differ from the boxer night light?
The boxer LED night light carries a boxer's torso with no text at all and is set from the base only. This one adds the BOXING CLUB banner and the remote.
