Fifteen years old, and a hair colour
Saúl Álvarez was born on 18 July 1990 in Guadalajara, the seventh of seven children, six of them boxers. He turned professional at 15 — an age at which most future champions are still amateurs.
The nickname canelo means cinnamon in Spanish: it comes from his hair, red, and rare in Mexico. He became world champion in four weight classes, and on 6 November 2021 the first Mexican to unify all four belts of a division.
The artwork
A circular crest fills the centre of the chest, but the circle itself is never drawn: the words trace it. CANELO runs round the upper arc, ALVAREZ round the lower.
Each name is tricolour letter by letter: the first letters green, the next white, the last red — the three colours of the Mexican flag spread across the word. The 19 is green, the 90 red. At the centre, the CA monogram in white, with 4-DIVISION WORLD CHAMPION beneath. A second version prints the whole crest in white. Plain back.
The garment
Lined hood with a drawcord, kangaroo pocket, ribbed cuffs and hem. Straight cut, set-in long sleeves.

Frequently asked questions
What does the 1990 on this hoodie stand for?
Saúl Álvarez's year of birth: 18 July 1990, in Guadalajara. It is split as 19 and 90 either side of the CA monogram.
How old was Canelo when he turned professional?
Fifteen. He was the seventh of seven children, six of them boxers, and started fighting for money at an age when most future champions are still amateurs.
What does 4-Division World Champion mean?
That he has held world titles in four different weight classes. On 6 November 2021 he also became the first Mexican to unify all four belts of a single division.
What is the difference between the two versions?
The print only: one is in the colours of the Mexican flag, the other entirely white. Same black sweatshirt, same price, same sizes.
What size should I take?
European cut — take your usual size, with no Asian sizing to convert. Six sizes from S to XXXL, all at the same price. Over training kit, go up one.
How do I care for the print?
Machine wash at 30 °C / 86 °F inside out, no tumble dryer, and never run an iron over the print. Heat transfer film holds for years on that routine and gives way to heat, not to washing.
