The essentials: a cutman utility wristband carrying a lidded stainless steel vaseline tin on the wrist, plus slots for cotton swabs and mesh. Soft band, hook-and-loop adjustment. Built so everything is within finger reach during the rest minute, with no digging through the kit bag. €24, free standard shipping.
Between rounds the cutman has sixty seconds. This wristband moves the essentials onto the back of the wrist: a lidded stainless steel vaseline tin, fully disinfectable after the bout, and slots for cotton swabs loaded before the fight. The free hand finds them without looking. The band is soft and adjusts with a hook-and-loop strap, in one size.
This cutman wristband solves that simply: it moves the essential consumables onto the back of the wrist, where the free hand finds them without looking.
Sixty seconds: why the kit has to be on you
Cutmen have always improvised. A dab of vaseline on the back of the hand, an applicator held in the teeth or behind the ear: those makeshift habits are part of corner folklore, but they cost something in hygiene and in precision.
The wristband gives the same immediacy without the drawbacks: the vaseline stays closed under its lid until the moment it is needed, the swabs stay clean and stowed, and both hands stay free to hold the boxer's head and work.
A stainless vaseline tin, with a lid
The tin is stainless steel: it does not split if it drops between two mats, it holds no odour, and it can be fully disinfected after the bout. That matters on equipment that comes into contact with blood.
The lid is the detail that separates it from open pots: between the walk to the ring and the first round, the vaseline stays clear of dust, spray and towels. You flip it with a thumb, take what you need, close it again.
Slots for swabs and mesh
The band has dedicated spaces for applicators and cotton mesh. Applicators are loaded before the bout and stay to hand: the cutman takes one, uses it, takes another without lifting his eyes from the boxer's face.
That is what separates a prepared corner from a busy one. The kit is laid out before, not during.
Soft band, hook-and-loop adjustment
The band is soft and adjusts with a hook-and-loop strap. It goes on in two seconds over a sleeve, fits any wrist, and comes off just as fast between bouts to pass to another second in the team.
Corner kit: where this wristband fits
A cutman's kit usually holds sterile gloves, gauze pads, round-tipped scissors, tape, an enswell, vaseline, cotton applicators and whatever haemostatic products the relevant federation allows.
Within that set the wristband replaces nothing: it moves the two most-used consumables onto the wrist, vaseline and swabs. The rest stays in the bag, on the stool or in a pocket. The Esprit Boxe enswell itself is kept in an ice bucket until it is needed.

Using the wristband well
- Set it up before the walk to the ring: tin filled, lid closed, applicators in place. Nothing gets prepared during the rest minute.
- Wear it on the non-dominant hand: the dominant hand works, the other acts as the bench. The band belongs on the side that does not treat.
- Tighten the strap over the sleeve: the band must not rotate around the wrist when you reach towards the boxer's face.
- Disinfect after every bout: the stainless tin cleans out completely. The band wipes down with a damp cloth and a neutral disinfectant, then air dries.
- One band per second: in a team, each keeps their own. It is the simplest hygiene rule to hold in a corner.

Frequently asked questions
What is a cutman wristband for?
Keeping vaseline and cotton swabs on the wrist, immediately to hand during the rest minute between rounds. The cutman no longer digs through a bag or parks vaseline on the back of his hand: he flips the lid, takes what he needs, closes it, and keeps both hands free to work on the boxer's face.
What is a cutman in boxing?
The corner's medic, specialised in managing cuts, bleeding and swelling during a bout. He works between rounds, in a very short window, in boxing as much as in MMA or kickboxing. His basic kit holds vaseline, cotton applicators, an enswell, gauze and tape.
Is the vaseline tin closed?
Yes, it has a lid. That is what separates it from open pots: between the walk to the ring and the intervention, the vaseline stays clear of dust, spray and contact with towels. The lid flips with a thumb, with nothing to put down.
Which wrist should it be worn on?
The non-dominant hand. The dominant hand applies the treatment, the other steadies and acts as a support: that is the side the kit belongs on. The band is soft and hook-and-loop adjustable, so it suits either wrist.
How is it cleaned?
The stainless tin comes out and is fully disinfected: that is the advantage of metal over a plastic pot, which holds odours and scratches. The band wipes down with a damp cloth and a neutral disinfectant, then air dries. On equipment that meets blood, this is done after every bout.
Does it suit MMA and other combat sports?
Yes. The cutman's role is identical in boxing, MMA, kickboxing and muay thai: work fast between rounds on cuts and swelling. The band is used in a ring corner or a cage corner alike, and serves in hard sparring when the coach handles the treatment himself.
