The name comes from a guarantee
In 1910, in New York, Jacob Golomb was seventeen and making swimsuits. His selling point: they were guaranteed for a year, where the competition lost shape in weeks. He named the workshop Everlast.
In 1917 an amateur boxer asked him for training gloves that would last more than a few sessions. Golomb built them, and the company moved into boxing. Two years later he made the first eight ounce fight glove for Jack Dempsey.
The artwork
EVERLAST in wide white serif capitals, curved in an arc: the letters at the centre stand taller than those at the ends, as on varsity jerseys. The block fills the width of the chest.
Beneath it, the brand's chevron emblem, a curved wing shape set under the name. White on black, with no other colour. Plain back.
The garment
Lined hood with a drawcord, kangaroo pocket, ribbed cuffs and hem. Straight cut, set-in long sleeves.
